Question about Selling my car

I am soon going to be either selling my Fit or trading it in. I know how trades work so my question is aimed torwards selling it to private party. I owe less than the car is worth. So i am wondering how the sell would work with the title and such. Obviously with the money i got for the car i would pay off my loan. Would the person that buys my car have to wait until Honda Financial sends me the title or how does this work? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

When I bought my Fit, I was the buyer and the seller was in your exact position. It seemed to be super complicated for her to sell it to me for some reason, but she finally figured it out by calling the Honda Dealership and speaking to them. They walk you through step by step and telling you everything you need to know.

Ah thank you very much. I may just go to the local dealer and talk to them. I bought the car in SC before moving to CA, but hopefully they will still be happy to help.

Yea, way it worked when I'd purchased my del sol...the guy had "title" from the bank I had to sign which he then sent in and the bank in turn either sent him the title which came to me or just sent it to me. Best thing is talk to the bank you financed through and/or dealer.
