Unhappy with seat comfort

I took my fit on its first extended cruise (200 miles) this weekend. I was happy with the 41.2 MPG I achieved on the trip but found the driver's seat to be uncomfortable during the trip. My passenger had no problems with the front passenger seat though. Does anybody else find the drivers seat to be uncomfortable during long trips of 1 hour or more?

I find that whenever I drive my GD around 3 or more consecutive hours my thighs begin to numb, I think the seat could use a denser/thicker foam padding or more padding around the thigh and buttocks area of it.

At first, I thought it happened because I kept my wallet in my pocket so I take it out for long drives and it helps some but my left leg and thigh kept numbing. So, I stuck my foot on top of the hood release (didn't get a dead pedal until last week) or crossed my left leg under my right and that helped manage the numbing some. Now, I got a dead pedal and currently waiting to see if it helps on another long trip.

I do 2.5 hour commutes 4-5 days a week and the seat could definitely have a bit more comfort.

I've driven mine a lot.. no discomfort after I got the seat adjusted to fit me right. I think the biggest improvement could be made by making the seat height adjustable as well as being able to raise or lower the angle your knees are at.

I agree being able to raise or lower the seat would be a nice option. My old car (1995 Subaru) had that. I thought for sure a new car (15 years newer to be exact) would have that as something standard

This is exactly why I replaced my seats. Thigh and knee support was my main issue. The stock seats have squabs that are too short, and a seat height that's neither here nor there for support.

On trips longer than 4 hours the discomfort started to set in.

as strange as this sounds, but as i was driving for 2 hours to a camping site, my butt cheeks started feel a very sharp pain for some reason. im assuming its the geometry of the seat and how i positioned myself during that trip. :/

Also part of the problem is the gas pedal. There is little resistance so you are always holding your foot up. This will cause problems. I know I got a real bad bout of sciatica the first month of ownership.

Try this mod.

I only wish I could get back the electric - heated seats I was living with in my last car now.

The thing that made the biggest difference for me was installing the dead pedal.

Has anyone tried getting seat covers and blocks of foam to reshape the seat?

I was thinking that's a lot easier and won't drain the bank account like Recaro's or even Civic seats will. I mainly need more comfort just for long trips.

black3sr is right, polaski's mod really helps a lot! but i think that the best would be a lower position and more support under the legs... like aftermarket seats... :P

Had my 07 a year and a half now, and just got back from a trip where I put 9k+ miles on it in the past two weeks . . . the seat is okay, but that's all. For whatever reason, it's not super comfortable while sitting in it (lower back & lumbar support for me). That said, it doesn't make me stiff or sore after the fact, which is huge.

I'm really thinking about picking up some Recaros out of an Evo 8. They were the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. Has anyone done this? And is it possible to lower the seating position at all? I hate how high I feel while driving this beast lol.

WAYS to be better

needs adjustable lumbar support, higher side bolsters and a few more inches of rearward travel (I'm aware that magic seat functionality would be impaired WHEN the seat was extra far back). The GD fit's worst flaw is by far the seats but I still love the car. I wish someone would refine perfectly and post a DIY seat further back mod! I still love the car even with marginal seats.

i drive all day, every week day basically. I'm in the car at least...3-4 hours a day. My back definitely bothers me after sitting int he seat for a while. This is the biggest flaw with the car in my opinion.
I'm hoping to purchase a new seat soon when my bonus comes. Thinking about a buddy club.
