differences between fit and fit sport

Ive been researching around about the fit because i am very interested in buying it for my first car. My friend showed me this site so i though i would throw out to you what i was thinking.

what are the main differences between the fit and the fit sport? i heard the main one is the sport has larger wheels? if that is the case, I was going to buy new wheels anyways, so wouldn't it be cheaper to get the normal fit and add on the floodlights and other stuff i want?

what are some of the differences between the two that i dont know about?
thanks!

The biggest differences, off the top of my head are:

16" alloys vs the 15" civic light alloys
USB attachment to the speakers
6 speakers (2 tweeters) as opposed to the 4
Side skirts + fog lights

Engine wise and performance it's all the same, I'm not sure if vehicle stability control (VSC) comes standard in the sport in the states...'cause we don't have that option at all in Canada.

Nah, that's only available on the Sports Navigation model.

The base model in the US has steel wheels with wheel covers. Same as Canadian DX.

maybe it's different for the GE8s, but the GD3 sport had an aux input, leather wrapped steering wheel, paddle shifters (AT), a spoiler, cruise control...and what's listed...fogs, 6 speakers, wheels,

I think the 09 sport has 6 tie down latches, and the base has 4. I remember reading that somewhere. i don't think the base has cruise control, which might be a big thing for you.

Btw. All differences are clearly shown on the Honda website.

This thread is starting to show false info. Even previous 1st gen models getting mixed in. Better get it directly.

ill tell you somthing thast more opinion than fact. i test drove the base model and the way it accelerated was, (im not gunna say sucks buh..) ill say its decent for a car like that, considering its a four cyclinder. But on the sport model, you have better control of the RPMs and it is less "jumpy" (meaning the RPM wont spike from 2000 to 4000 in a flash, bad g forces), the sports model climbs to the RPM, but dont think "climb" is a slow acceleration. other than that, if you like playin MP3s, sport is for you, rims, i woudnt make a big deal out of it, even before considering buying new rims, i think the spoiler wing adds a great look to it, juss a simple wing and BAM lol wat else... thats all that comes to mind (notice, this isnt a comparison to a base manual) keep in mind, this is my opinion and not facts. try it out yourself. im sure the dealer would love demonstrating it.

The Sport also has remote controled entry and security imoblizer system. personally i think the base interior looks "cheaper" material wise.

It's all in your head. Both the Fit and Fit Sport have the same engine, same ECU, and the same Drive-by-Wire Throttle.

Then the question is, if the Manual Transmission base & sport get the same MPG, why is there a difference between the automatic transmission base & sport.... (same gear ratio according to the Honda site.)

yeah man the base fit and the sport fit are both slow as balls.
if anything it would make a little sense for the base to be faster.. less weight

The MPG is different because of the gear ratios.

The MT ratios: Gear Ratios: 1st: 3.308, 2nd: 1.870, 3rd: 1.303, 4th: 0.949, 5th: 0.727, Reverse: 3.308, Final Drive: 4.62

The AT ratios: Gear Ratios: 1st: 2.996, 2nd: 1.679, 3rd: 1.067, 4th: 0.761, 5th: 0.552, Reverse: 1.957, Final Drive: 4.56

Because of the automatic's higher gears it'll run more efficiently (abeit it might "FEEL" slower), which gives the automatic a slight, slight edge in fuel consumption.

Manual Base MPG == Manual Sport MPG
Auto Base MPG (35 Hwy) > Auto Sport MPG (33 Hwy)

And I just test drove Auto Base vs Auto Sport, and while neither ride is exactly smooth (coming from a higher-end car), the Sport's ride was noticeably rougher.

And no keyless entry in the base.

I see what people are saying about false information in this thread. The base does have the imobilzer (chip in key). It does not come with the remote for the keyless entry but it will work if you just buy the remote.

Also, the base does not have map lights or cruise control.

The highway miliage on the base Fit is 35 MPG, the sport is 33 MPG. (Auto Trans)

sport has the upgraded "sport" suspension package for better performnce, namely the anti-sway bar = firmer ride and road grip.

so basically, unless you're a grandma, why buy a base and save a few $$$ when you would end up spending more to upgrade it later.

Just get a sport, I'm sure the resale on a sport would be better than a base, (at least privately)
