PRM Intake Dyno'ed

Went to Splitfire Performance today in Brampton with Gerry. We first dyno'ed the car with the PRM intake in the car. Then we put the stock airbox back on for comparison. The graph below is pretty much self explanatory. As you can there is a significant gain throughout the ENTIRE rpm ange. The powercurve has also been slightly flattened out as well. I know most of you guys have been waiting for awhile now for these dyno tests. I think you can feel safe and make your purchase after seeing these results. I made a video of the car being dyno'ed as well but unfortunately I will not be able to post those up until I get my USB cord back from work on Wed. Mean while the graph below is informative enough. GO PRM!!!

The torque numbers are weird, they say you lost 7 ft-lbs. The line on the graph looks right but the final numbers are off.

Either way nice gains.

Interesting how it doesn't show what it does for below 4000 rpm.

Important information missing for me.

I just tried to look at it carefully and see if you made a mistake, but you're right

Also why in the second run (green/stock) does the car gain 6.7 ft lbs of torque?

I want more torque with an intake not less....

First run brown.... 90.45 w/ intake
Second run green.... 97.15 stock

?????

Looks like it's hard to read but it says 98.45 if you look close

I don't know. still looks like 90.45.
Still wondering why it doesn't start till 4k

Compare it to the other 8's on the chart. Looks closer to a 0 to me.
for example...look at the _007.drf to the left. that 0 looks just like it...

I need a more clear chart.

Here's a zoomed in picture.

It's definately a zero. Why is it like this?!? Unless it really did gain the HP but lost TQ??? Wouldn't that be useless then? (I am asking because I don't know)

Ding Ding Ding.... thank you very much!!

I know I will probably get heat for this..but I think this chart is a fake....

x=6.466 tq (at bottom of page)
but actually loses 6.7????

and like Virtual pointed out...4K chart starts????

Just an observation but I just don't trust this chart.... sorry no sale!!!!!

Panda1314, thanks again for releasing this important information.
damn dave! the way you promote this intake, i want to buy it even though i dont have a ge haha

i can reassure you guys that this graph is not fake or has not be altered in anyway. I don't know how dyno's work all I did was download the graph onto my USB drive that I had in my car for my music and upload the graph onto BikePics (thats my image source) thats why you see a BIKEPICS watermark on the bottom right.

The reason why it only shows 4000 rpm and beyond I think is because the driver pressed the button to collect the sample once the car hit 4000 rpm. (I wasn't the one driving I wanted to film the process) Why he did that I don't know.

It does seem very strange why the green curve is below the red curve from 4000rpm all the way to redline yet it shows a lower torque number. (i still cant make out if thats a 0 or an 8). Either way I posted the dyno for everyone to see as I thought many would be intereseted to see real world numbers as opposed to charts posted by the intake companies themselves.

rhecht is an unknown quantity at this point
Looks legit to me.
Most dyno pulls I've ever done, are either in 3rd or 4th gear and you have to have the wheels in motion before opening up the throttle all the way. (can't start from a dead stop in 3rd or 4th gear).

The peak horse power measurement was taken at 6466 rpm (x- 6.466) on the graph (red curve) of 107.03 whp with the PRM intake but with the stock intake (green curve) at the same rpm 98.14 whp - so the difference (gain) = 8.89 whp

Also the torque number is 98.45 lbs/ft, it must be since the red curve is higher on the graph than the green curve.
The peak torque numbers are measured at about 4500 rpm or so. (highest point of the curve on the graph)
Seems that the numbers at 6466 rpm (x- 6.466) shows the biggest torque gain of 7.22 lbs/ft

Only thing that I'm wondering, was there any cool down time between the runs, so that the intake air temp was consistant?

Great info thanks for sharing

You are correct. The runs were made in 3rd gear and there was a cool down time in between runs. We let the car sit close to 10-15 minutes while we removed the battery, reinstalled the factory airbox and turned on a high powered fan to cool down the engine as much as possible.

I'm pretty much the biggest skeptic ever, but seriously, where the line falls on the chart and the way the digits are rasterized there is no way you can tell between a 0 and an 8. More importantly, the rest of the chart looks reasonable, not just scaled up with a correction factor like most bogus dyno charts.

It's a stretch going from there to plunking $$$ down for something, but it's a believable chart.
