FYI, Interior fan not operating?

I had a situation where the interior fan was not operating at 1-3 speeds, only 4/high. It ended up being the blower motor transistor. Warranty took care of it course. It was a special order part, and it took about 1 week for it to get here.

But during the week long wait and using the fan at the only speed, the blower motor started to squeal and one time grinded to a stop. It did start to work after it was shut off, but it had a worn bearing/groaning sound after.
You guessed it, one more Special order part.

So, just an FYI, it not uncommon for ANY model Honda for the blower motor transistor to go out. Unusual, but it does happen.

Be careful when if it does happen and listen for the blower motor afterwards. Listen for a faint, but audible helicopter type sound (at low speeds, 1 or 2 setting), following you everywhere you go.
And if you don't tell you passengers, you can see them look up outside every so often. That was the only funny part.

It's a resistor, not a transistor

Yeah, I thought so too.
But if you ever get one replaced by Honda - it's listed as a "transistor" on your receipt and is listed as such in the parts catalog.

Not that it justifies it, but whatever.

How odd. In the owner's manual it says to leave the fan on all the time. Really.

How about posting the part number to save us all time? LOL!

It makes me look really smart when I go in with a part number.

Say, are there any Honda Fit Assembly Manuals? I had one for my old 72 Corvette and most all of the part numbers were still in Chevrolet's system. I liked those blow-apart diagrams.

yep. there it is.

they want you to keep the fan blowing at all times to "prevent stale air and mustiness."

Correction - parts lists it as a RESISTOR, Labor operation has it listed as "resistor/transistor".
