That's EXACTLY what we're trying to say; poking a hole in the tank or fill hose is actually easier than using a siphon that gets the perp a mouthful of no-lead if he's not careful.
My concern had always been of somebody dumping something IN, rather than taking anything out. I've read that it would take a big bunch of sugar to 'caramelize' in the engine; more time and trouble than most vandals will expend. I've retired all the locking caps at our house.
Actually, the same logic holds with many Jeepers; the counsel is 'don't bother locking the doors with the soft top on'. Ever see city cars with the doors unlocked and a 'no radio' sign?
