First oil change is due when?
I scanned the manual and did not find a recommended mileage for the first service/oil change. I did find the "oil life" function which (at 1500 miles) still shows 90% remaining.

Don't the manufacturers use a super-light oil for break-in periods that needs to be replaced early in the motor's life? What am I missing?

It's all in the little book that came with your car. Or use the search function, it has been discussed here ad nauseum.
