I got 09 Base A/T. Has 2,500 miles on it right now. Had it since end of July so so little over 1 month When i took it to dealer about the problem the guy said change oil cuz i was using arco so i've been pumping chevron ever since. Seems like it did get better just a little but im still seeing the same problem. I dont noe what other information to provide you guys.
With i-vtec your honda is varying valve openings electronically depending on the speed of the car, engine, load, gear to maximize economy and regulate available power. The throttle plate is also electronically actuated vs a cable from the accelerator. In addition the transmission is selecting the optimum gear for you. This may give you a less even power response at different speeds compared to other less "smart" cars than you're used to. The Fit's logic, especially the base, is biased towards economy and not power.
My personal feeling is the car responds well under 30MPH but quickly poops out (careful not to use the S word ) over 30MPH to be merely adequate in performance. It seems consistent under similar driving conditions to me. I do detect some throttle variation as it changes gears even though my foot is steady on the accelerator. I suspect the Fit's brain is protecting itself from higher torque through shifts. Might be an economy measure, or it might be my imagination.
Ask the Honda dealer or a sympathetic Fit owning friend to let you drive a different car and see if it behaves differently. It may be that you expect more out of a 1.5L engine than it can deliver.
What i meant when i said it doesnt drive smooth is that sometimes wen i accelerate it goes really smooth with nice acceleration but other times it feels like i gotta gas it little more to get the same acceleration. so basically it feels like less power somtimes and i gotta gas more to get it going and other times it just goes smooth with no problem. And the shitty part about this is that it does it SOMETIMES so even wen i took it to dealer they dont noe.
This explains the poor mileage. Could be clogged fuel injectors or worse. Since it's intermittent, try starting out by using clean gas - Chevron, Shell with nitrogen, etc. The ONLY time I used Arco, I felt a noticeable difference in power response. I swore to myself I will never use Arco again.
I feel as if there is something wrong with my Fit. Just doesn't drive smooth, get like 27mpg when Im hearing from others they get the very lowest 30mpg when they beating the hell outta it. I took it to dealer and they checked/test drove it and the guy said theres no problem "its a fit". Im not really familiar with car stuff so if i take it to a mechanic are they able to thoroughly check it?
btw i get 27mpg and no i dont gas it every sec i get.
If you have an automatic 27 is right in the government ratings. If its manual you are only a tad low. So
1. check tuire pressures at 35 front 32 rear
2. make sure you have synthetic oil
3.Watch your driving; lots in traffic? especially stopand go. Use low gears a lot?
4. Watch your average trip distance. Coupla miles? or 20 miles per trip between engine running.
5. Too much idling at drive-in or elsewhere.
6. Fit tuned right with clean air filter, oil filter,?

It only has 2,500 miles: too soon for synthetic oil, dirty filters (or clogged injectors). Dealer says the car is fine. Automatic transmission. Sounds like moderately aggressive driving with a dose of paranoia. Could be a tank of bad gas, but the symptoms don't support this.
i hate when people dont check the air in their tires
i used to work at the acura dealer, and this asshole in a 07 mdx comes in and says his mdx used to get 16.3 mpg then now it gets 15.7 according to his real time mileage thing which is a gimmick anyway.. checked his vehicle for dtcs, any messed up parts etc, nothing.. found his tires at 28psi, set to 32 psi and sent it out.. 3mos later comes back, same complaint, nothing found, tires 28psi again.. filled them up and sent it out.. #@*)( waste 2 hrs of my life on this idiot..
Just wondering, I've got an 09 Fit Sport M/T. I usually just pump gas from this place USA gas because they've got the best prices. Should I be using a specific place to gas up?

If you are having no issues, there's probably no need to change gas stations but... be aware that places like US GAS get "leftover" gas from other companies and it can be lower quality. Depending on your locale, the gas may also sit longer in billy-bob's gas station than in a name brand too. My recommendation would be to periodically get a tank or two from places like Shell or Chevron to help keep your engine running cleaner. If you are saving a penny or two at USGas, I'd go elsewhere, if it is a $.05 or $.07 difference for every gallon, I'd stick with the USGas or consider using Midgrade every other tank to ensure you have a higher quality mixture.

When that happens you need to CHARGE them.

Yea that's the problem, they're up to 15 cents cheaper per gallon. Right now it's around 2.65 everywhere but only 2.50 at the USA gas. I might start just paying more for better gas now that I know that!

What's the price for Midgrade at USGas? I used to use Midgrade on my 86 Prelude because my dad occasionally had problems with Bad gas and he always had 87 so I chose to run 89. With the fit, if it's just $.10 more for midgrade, it's still cheaper than regular and is probably better quality than the 87 from other places. I'd recommend periodically getting a good tank of Shell or Chevron (maybe two in a row). Also run some Fuel Injector Cleaner every 10k miles.
