Everything 3rd Gen Fit Issues

I'm creating this thread because I myself have run some issues that maybe you guys are experiencing as well. We can use this thread to help one another to troubleshoot or solve issues. Here are a few of the issues I ran into.

1. Connecting my android via bluetooth. At first it wouldn't recognize it, but I finally got it paired. For some reason it wouldn't connect. I found out Honda link uses bluetooth 2.0. I'm confused how Iphones 5s are even compatible as they are bluetooth 4.0.

2. I recently got an accessory installed from my dealer, the illuminated ambient lighting. After the install, I noticed the entry & exiting beeping sound was gone (which I'm happy about) but I'm concerned what else they could have disabled during the install. I guess this is normal?

3. Just today I've experienced issues with locking the door. My key fob in my pocket, should recognize the proximity, but it took me a couple of presses to the lock button & lock it

This thread can be used if you have any common Honda Link questions as well, like what I want to know if I can use my android phone via bluetooth to access contents like Aha or do I have to have an iphone?

Note: I Own 15 Fit EX-L/Navi

I think you should take it back to get check. It seems like a electric/wiring problem maybe.

Does anyone know anything about the sms text feature? I see it in the manual book but it didn't go into detail.

Can you post some photos on the ambient lighting at night? I'd like to see how it looks.

It's something that we wanted to get, the only "useless" accessory, but the dealer basically shot us down in doing that...

I don't know why your dealer have discouraged you from getting this. I only got this for the looks, I didn't need to have it. I'll try to take a photo, but my cell camera is not that good, but I will try to post if I can. Let me just tell you, it looks very nice with the black interior.

I dunno. They basically forced the Proctology Package on it, despite that what they offered for the price was almost 100% profit for them. I don't think they were willing to budge removing it... with the claim that they have a contract with Honda to provide it.

I basically came in well prepared with all the features we were interested in, and I was grilling him on what the "Pro Package" offered, and ultimately he sidestepped us and distracted us about it.

When I brought up the illuminated interior, it was basically dismissive stuff about being obsessed with "bling-bling" and how I don't need to worry about that. I mean yeah, it's ultimately useless, but it's not like I was interested in any of the other purely cosmetic accessories.

I'll get it some day, hopefully not through the dealer though.

Just add a couple 12" strips of Ebay LEDs to the dome light circuit for under dash lighting. Less than $10

I hate sales people, they never ever care about us customers. All they see in front of them are green dollar bills. While the proctalogy package they are selling due to per contract they have with Honda, you as a customer have the right to refuse any accessory they try to sell.

The fact they were using a slimy tactic as to detract you guys is a red flag on my book. I usually look at them with a straight face and I let them know of their greedy tactics. Some Sales people need to be put in their place. You'd be surprised how much they are willing to give you if they know you have shopped around and know exactly what you want.

I basically tell them here is my budget, if you can work below this amount, you will have my business, if not, then I'm going else where. I even told this sales person that I want the Honda Fit for what you paid for it. Give me your invoice price, not the MSRP price. One of them actually said ok to me, but this other sales guy whom I know very well beat him to it.

Anyway, regarding the illumination ambient lighting while it's not a necessity, it does look nice at night in the car. As you said, don't have the dealer install it for you. I learned from my mistake. The guy took almost 2 & a half hours just to install it. Obviously the fit was new to him and he had trouble installing it. He even might have messed up my wiring as I mentioned about the entry & exiting beeping was not there no more after the install. I have to take it back to them and see what happened to the beeping sound, which honestly I don't mind, but still I don't want it to create issues in the long run.

P.S. Sorry, I couldn't upload any pictures of the lighting, but they do look nice. I don't regret having it in my car other than what I've already mentioned.

The passenger airbag is apparently deactivated per the dash indicator. No reason, and there is always a 145 lb. passenger there. Nothing is in the way (p.52 in the manual), so that will require dealer attention.

Plastic exterior with engine

It's been 20 years since I had a new car (94 accord died in March) and much has changed, but why does the Fit's engine have a plastic exterior? Or should I just stop wondering about this stuff and enjoy my new Fit?

Pretty much everyone does the plastic engine cover thing now. Even 10 years ago they were pretty common. There's no good reason why though. It's just a shield over the engine itself though, no worries; the engine is still made of metal.

My wife's infotainment system on her week old EX hasn't functioned properly since our third day with it. It turns on then says "Preparing for Program Update" followed by "00000006". The numbers stay on the screen and anything related to the system does not work including the radio and cameras.

We brought it into the dealer on Saturday and they did a battery terminal reset. The system worked the next three times she turned the car on but then went back to the update and numbers. We are going back to the dealer tonight and hope they will just replace the unit.

"I even told this sales person that I want the Honda Fit for what you paid for it. Give me your invoice price, not the MSRP price."

The invoice price isn't what the dealer pays for the car, any more than MSRP is what the retail buyer pays. They're both made-up numbers that may have nothing to do with the actual price paid.

I have noticed a bit of stitching on the passenger seat starting to come up. Also the silver steering wheel trim piece is a bit of centered on my car. Besides those things I have had good luck.

I've noticed a number of small nicks and dents in my roof. There's a particularly large dent about 4" away from the end of my spoiler that has paint gouged out of it already.

Is this just because of the low/slanted shape? I have not had this problem at all in my '07 fit.

I've got a quote for $1,000 they have to take the whole roof off and repaint it. I'm not ready for that yet. :/ I just bought the thing less than a month ago! lol

Any ideas?

google "paintless dent removal" in your area. Find a guy there who is reputable and these dent technicians can do wonders.

when I had my '07 FJ, I backed up and dented the rear driver's quarter. Replaced the tailight and had a specialist remove the dent. Including the tailight it was the best $300 I ever spent.

Felt really stupid cause it was my fault!!!

Paint is easily retouched with a factory paint stick.

Hope this helps.

They told me about some small scratches on the spoiler/roof above the hatch. They are pretty small but definitely noticeable. They will be sending me to an approved Honda repair place to fix it.

Other than that, I did notice a small torn looking spot in the leather seat drivers side. It's super tiny and a flaw in the leather looks like so not really a big deal.

Love the car!!

I use a T-Mobile Samsung s3 almost all features work minus AHA and Honda link. When Pandora is running if I get a call SOMETIMES when it reconnects the music is not playing through the speakers it is just playing on the phone. If I skip it skips on the phone and I have to close the app on the phone which didn't always fix it. The only way I can get it to work at that point is to turn off Bluetooth on the phone so it reconnects.

Based on the original Fits my dealer received with scratches and dents (I saw them) I would say the dealer should fix it for free because they probably were are when you bought it and didn't say anything.

Just bought the 2015 Blue EX AT home.

Only real beefs I have are the lack of leather steering wheel and the very cheap "wheel well" covering in the cargo area.

CVT very smooth and the car feels substantial.
