harness bar

i have been talking with spokanejdmGD3 and i finally go around to fabricating up a harness bar for him since no one else makes one.

im just testing the waters to see if anyone else here is interested in one for a gd3. i can make one for the ge8 but that will take a little more time.

price?

i'm not sure how i feel about how it looks. i like the sparco harness bar look (a thick bar one piece)

also isn't usually slots to slide in for the harness

sparco has not released a harness bar for the fit.

they use 1" mild steel tube with a .120" wall thickness.

from the pictures the one i built looks small but that main bar is 1" tube with a .125" wall. the upper mounts are .25" x 1" flat bar and the vertical bars are .5" round bar.

its a rather sturdy one piece design so there is less movement.

this is just a prototype to gauge interest so its not perfect.

the harness just wraps around the bar. cutting slots in the bar weakens it.

I have seen it last weekend, and it does look like it would be a sturdy harness bar.

I've seen harness bars, and they don't allow rear-seat passengers. Would this allow? I would obvi need to get racing seats and harnesses before this, otherwise I'd look foolish.

yes you can still have passengers but it limits their personal space. i sat in the back while the bar was in and i was fine.... of course im only 6'2" and 160lbs so its not a big deal for us skinny guys...

looks good!. Only concern would be the back passengers slaming their face on the bar in a crash. I would put a disclaimer that maybe rear seats be elimnated with this bar.

bump for a cool product

nah.... i will just put a "must wear helmet for backseat passengers" sticker on the bar. that will save some people their teeth.
