it should have been packaged with the knob. is there a threaded hole at the base of the knob? if there isn't, i think you just gotta keep on twisting till you just can't twist anymore -- without cross threading the knob/shift lever of course
... maybe put some lock-tight on the threaded portion of the shift lever too.
