y wont the wheel locks do anything? isnt that wat there for?

They deter casual thieves, which I'm willing to bet most of these people are. There's no money in stealing Fit rims.
If the wheel lock fails to stop the thieves, it's not going to be because they have the key. Getting just the right key for just the right Fit is too much work.

 

I'm sure they do deter the casual thieve, but nowadays, nothing is too much work for people. If finding the right key is too much work, what do you call crawling under cars at the dealership i work to saw the cats off cars in the middle of the night? Not trying to start anything, just saying that people will do just about anything to get anything.

 

Two of my rims were taken this past summer, cops told me Fit Sport wheels are getting ripped off all the time.

Heck, getting better insurance can be cheaper than wheel locks to begin with. Lower your comprehensive deductible now before it's too late. A lower comp ded is rarely as expensive as a lower colision ded. Especially if you have any accidents or tickets on your record as they play no major role in your comprehensive premium with most insurance companies. I'd go with 100 or 0 ded if it is offered. You can still keep collision at 1000 or 500 to help keep things affordable.

Get renters insurance if you don't own your home. Car insurance does NOT cover your personal belongings in your car. Period. That would be a claim against your home or renters insurance. If you have for example a laptop or Christmas presents stolen from your car and you don't have renters or home insurance you are shit out of luck.

 

how is there not money in stealing fit rims? if your rims got stolen and that person sold them for $200 sounds like free money to me.

trust me its not that hard to get all those keys and if they wanted them, they will take em even without the keys.

Actually I was told that FitSport wheels are the lightest 15" 4x100 wheel by Honda. Key criteria right there. Yes VX and HX are lighter but they are not 15".

I had a guy with an EP3 ask to trade my sport wheels for his stock ep3 wheels. I said no. He was rocking miata wheels for autox.

 

Fit wheels are not light, I weight them in at about 18 lbs each! They look nice, but that's about all. Way too heavy for a fuel efficiency standpoint. The EP3 rims way about 16 lbs, I had an EP3. I think everyone believes they are the lightest rims because the fit is so light, but Honda pulled a fast one on everyone.

 

i think the LS mesh are the lightest but most oem wheels are not very light.

think they weigh around 15-16 lbs from what i have read

The lightest are the Insight wheels, gen1 at 11.8 lbs. 14x5.5 wheels.

Wow. I just had my wheels almost ripped off and I live in Philadelphia. They broke my rear windshield and front passenger window in search for my wheel lock key and got it. They only got as far as taking off the wheel locks off each wheel, something must of spooked them and they ran off. Got new wheel locks on and won't be keeping the key in the car anymore. Cost $480 to replace the window and rear windshield.

The insight gen 1's are lightest, 10.5 lb, 14x5.5, so if you're looking to cross your Fit a good lightweight 185/60x14 or similar might be the ticket.
