Radio Removal Tips?!

I have been attempting to remove my radio in order to attach an axilliary cable to it but have not been able to pry it out.

I have been following the dealership manual on making this modification and have removed the glovebox, the shielding under the environmental controls and the two screws securing the radio. As far as I am aware there are 7 clips still holding the radio in place but despite a huge amount of tugging and levering I cannot get the clips to let go...

Any advice on achieving this?! Is there a knack or do you just have to yank it rediculously hard?

Many thanks,

2002 Jazz Sport

Did you disconnect the cables from the hvac controls behind the glovebox? After that, its really just a lot of hard pulling. When I got mine off, I started pulling from the bottom and worked around the sides. It's definitely a pain in the ass the first time, feels like you are going to break everything.

Ah, as I feared! I'm just afraid I'm going to snap something and bugger the whole lot up.

Should you leave the environmental control cables completely loose?

On another note has anyone replaced their radio with a standard fitting head unit? Pros and cons for this?

Those cables need to be disconnected completely from the levers they are attached to. Leave them attached at the back of the radio though. I've used single and double din radios, similar install, except for a single din unit you add a pocket in the opening to fill up the space. Good luck!
