I have a 17x7 45mm offset rim with 205/40/17 BFGoodrich tires on stock height.
Whenever i go over bumps or dips in the road i hear a rubbing sound.
I'm not sure if it's coming from the back or the front.
Is there a way on the tire for you to tell if it's hitting something?
I notice int he back tires along the side wall towards the top there are some scratches that aren't in the front, is this where the rubbing is occurring ?
Should i even be rubbing with that setup on stock height?
Look at the tires for rub mark.
Inner plastic fender linings to see if there are shinnie area where the tire rub against it.
You can hear it somtime when the tires are rubbing.
but try pushing up on your fender lining in the front and tuck it up into the fender.
that might help.
if its rubbing in the rear then your gonna either A. have to cut the rear fender flange off B. get your fenders rolled.
but that doesnt make sense because im running the same set up essentially and i dont rub lowered....and i can only imagine stock height meaning you have like 5 finger gap from the fender to the rim.
CHECK IF YOU SEE POLished areas...like from where the rubber hit the paint to make it shinny!

he could be rubbing with a 45 offset. I had 17's with a 42 off set and would rub quite a bit when i had a loaded car and would occasionally rub when i hit a dip or bump too hard.
I would first of all suggest trying to avoid the bump and dip if possible and if not don't go through them sooo fast.
The stock suspension is really soft with a lot of play in it. I rub on 15" wheels and a 205 tire because of the soft suspension, but another person I know has a 205 tire with the same offset and is lowered on gf 210s and he doesn't rub nearly as much as I do.
It's easy to tell though you can hear it real easy, and you should be able to see some marks along the edge of the tire tread and tire wall depending on your offset/tire width.

Mark each tire with white shoe polish in four stripes across the tread and sidewalls, both inside and out, every 90 degrees and immediately cross a place where the sound occurs. Look for scraped off polish to locate source of rubbing. Have not known that to be the case unless you are severely lowered. Checjk the actual offset of your wheels; the back space should be about 5.25" plus a half inch for the flange if you measure from the wheel hub face to a straight edge across the rear flanges.
Do the majority of fit owners with a lowered susp. and aftermarket wheels rub? i am new here, but it seems like alot of folks have rubbing issues.
Those that install aftermarket wheels with an offet of less than 42 mm if their suspension is stock, or 45 mm with lowered suspensions, are very prone to rubbing issues and virtually guaranteed to rub if they use 205 section tires.
Most people chose wheels they like rather than applicable to Fits.
i just bought my 08 ssm fit, and brought it home last night. wanted to lower her on mugen sport suspension and ride 15x6.5 +45 mugen nr's. i was thinking about 195/50 series tires. I know i cant get a definite answer on this, but if anyone has a general idea of wether or not i will rub with this set-up i would really appreciate any help.
So if I understand this right, The Rota Circuit 10's I am looking at, in a 16x7 size with a +45 offset may still rub, using a 205/45/16? I wanted to drop it using the Eibach Pro Kit, but am concerned about rub. Don't want to roll the fenders. I have to believe this would lower the resale value of the car.

If you hit a big bump going straight it got to be your rear tires. My 205/50 15s with +38 offset rubbed the outer face of the tire about 5mm outside the contact treads of the tire. It rubbed the lip of fender directly above the tire and the tab that holds the bumper and fender together. The shop that I bought the rims from had a device that hooked up to the hub and rolled the lip under with a roller that resembled a skate board wheel. As for the tab you have to grind it a little with a dremmel. If you have + 38s I really recommend <195s. If you want to experiment rub some white shoe polish on the lip and tab and look for that big dip in the road and check, it might help if you can get some of your buddies to sit in the back.

Lord no they won't rub but the tires you selected are a trifle small. Your Fit will look like a grocery cart. suggest stock size 195/55x15's or even 205/50x15 tires both of which will work well with 45 offset wheels. PS make sure your wheel hub is outboard of the wheel centerline by 45 mm. If its inboard it'll never work. PS on a 45 mm offset the backspace will be 5" plus the edge width of half inch if you measure from hub face to straight edge across the inside wheel rim. mention this because there is great miinterpretation over negative and positive offset. negative as you say here is meant to be with the hub face outboard of the wheel centerline. good luck.

The two Fits we have installed 205/45x16 tires on 16x7/45 wheels do not rub. Both are lowered about 1" to look good and yet have good suspension travel.
