I wish I knew. The next time I rotate my tires I'm going to find out! I'd like to buy a set of sport wheel/tires from an 08 owner that replaces his "shoes" and then, if it'll fit, use one as a spare. One of the fitfreaks knows.

well, the fullsize one will "fits" into the spare wheel area but you wont be able to flat close the cargo lid since it is much much thicker than the skinny spare.

Then it doesn't FIT! That sucks but I should have known. I refuse to modify anything that affects the fit's functionality. I think people undervalue that flat floor, the magic seats and the 90 cubic feet of space that is "the fit".

Well damn. I had hoped to pick up a full size spare, for convenience in the event of a flat, and to have a 5th to rotate thru'.
Really don't want to give up the floor...'course, I don't even have the car at this point!
Thnx,
Moon

lol, noone undervalues that flat floor, the magic seats and the 90 cubic feet of space. I just simply report my experience when i change my flat tire...
Remember:
1/ Honda already squeeze any tiny space of the car to create huge interior. Dont expect they create enough space to fit fullsize spare wheel
2/ The fullsize wheel will add more weight which is bad for tiny engine
3/ The small spare tire will do the trick until u reach the shop (just dont go over 50 mph, which is commonsense lol)

If I was a Honda Engineer I would have figured out a way to get a full size into the well and still keep a nice flat floor. Why? Because having a full size rocks, it represents that little bit extra you can do for your customers so when they encounter the dreaded flat tire they don't feel like an idiot driving a lopsided car for a few days while they line up a repair job.
Lazy Engineers...

It would have said in a tangible way "NOT a cheap little car" but I still love the fit.

A buddy had a flat on the Ohio Turnpike ( a long way from home) and was stuck limping along at 50mph on the shoulder. This was neither safe nor convenient.
A full size spare is mighty handy if you're away from home.

I don't think it shoud matter if it is a cheap car or not, the last car I had with a full size spare was an 81' BMW 320i. It also had a handy trunk repair tool kit with everything you needed if you ever broke down. Sockets, screwdrivers, pliers... was attached to the underside of the trunk lid out of the way. Very clever!
Getting a flat sucks, I would sure consider a car just over the fact it had a full size spare, that means the engineers who designed it were actually thinking of the customer and not just the bottom line.
As a side note, my BMW had nearly 460,000km on the odo when I sold it with not a single mechanical failure of any kind despite how much I beat on it. Just goes to show when quality work is put into one aspect it generally gets applied throughout as well.

I have a full size 17" spare and just made pieces of wood to keep the floor in the back "FLAT"........You keep your donut and I'll keep my full size and on my next road trip I won't get ripped off at Billy Bob's Tire Palace for a 17" tire, let alone let him work on my SBC RPF1s....

1/ Why u feel like an idiot if u use spare tire exactly for the purpose it was intent to be used...lol. The sparetire is supposed to be used in emergency only, it's not like u gonna driving it all day long so why carry the fullsize brick everyday in a tiny Fit ?
2/ It's all about compromise in design a tiny care like Fit. And Honda engineers wont compromise all the good stuffs (that make the fit sell like hot cake) to satisfy an unreasonable feeling of few customers.

In all my other hondas exept my prelude I always kept a full sized spare and it never really fit well not with the cover flat but other than a full sized spare I never keep any thing in my trunk anyway other than a jump pack and a set of gear wrenches, But I would also like to know if you can do that and keep the floor flat
so we know it fits in there. it just sticks up to high.
so can anyone tell us by how much does it stick up
exactly?
full size is the way to go in my book.

Agreed, tho' I might squeeze a pump and tire plugs into the space around the donut if a full size spare won't fit.
Hell, I'll carry a tool bag and some other stuff; a couple pounds of tire won't matter.

In one of my other posts I sound crazy because I'm off by a year in my statements. Your avatar appears to be 09, I think! In this thread are we asking "room for a full size spare" in the well, I assume, for an 08 or an 09? I'd like to know if it would fit flat in the well for an 08.
