I think it depends on the size of the wheel if it fits in the spare tire well or not. My winter wheel with 175x65/14 fits nicly into the well, but not my summer wheels with 205x40/17...

Yeah, and lets focus on the standard Sport tires, not whatever big meats the boys might stuff in the wheelwells.

If it only sticks out a little, the shim it thing makes sense.

ETA-
What did they claim about the rear tires on a Porsche Turbo? The only place they'd fit inside was the passenger seat, or your date's lap? At least we don't have that problem...the tire, not the date!

I'd like to know about both 08 and 09 sports. I'm not going out and yanking a wheel off YET to answer this mystery. If, a month or so down the road, when my tires need rotating and this mystery is unanswered then I'll find out. Surely somebody already knows!

What if you deflated the stock tire and put a pump in the back to fill it with? You can get a small pump from WalMart and if you get a flat, pump up the spare and off you go. Just an idea...I don't know if it would make a big difference in the size of the tire or not.
