Powder Coating Wheels

There is a powder coating business right down the road from me. I am thinking about getting my sport wheels powdercoated. Any thoughts?

powder coating is better than painting because it bakes a ceramic onto the wheels so less likely chance the wheels will chip. what color you going to powder coat them?

I powdercoated my rims on my supra, the guy charged me $40 a wheel. They turned out great and still no chips years later.

If anything go gunmetal instead of the black so there is some contrast to the color I work at a body shop and we do on accasion paint wheels and the custumers are always happy but powdercoating is better but I am not sure If I would powdercoat my stock wheels, mabey some gsr blades or mesh spoke's or something, cause for the price I rather buy a wheel that nobody else really has then powdercoat them in a color they dont come in to be different

you could go to the junk yard and get any civic/integra wheel so you can do the all at once

If you wheels have curb rash, do you have to fix them first? I am assuming most powdercoating shops are not in the rim repair business.

If the curb rash is not deep you will be fine. Any good shop will sandblast off the old finish first, and then the coating could fill in any rash. My last 2 vehicles I powdercoated the stock wheels, was real happy with the results. I'd almost do my stockers if I could get a real good match to body color. never looked into it though

same. the beauty about oem is to have...well...oem. If you want to go a different color I would either sell the sport ones and buy some new gunmetal wheels or buy some new wheels and keep the sports for a different season.
