I am also thinking of adding foglights.

in my opinion, flat black looks better. especially if you paint your headlight housings black too.

The Honda kit is a satiny black, just like the plastic pieces around the mouth of the grill. I don't think they're painted or taped, just unfinished. I didn't finish mine because they match the surrounding plastic. I just put some Ultima Trim and Tire sealant on them when I detail. Pics here:

Sealant here:

Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus | Automotive Bumper, Rubber, Plastic Trim Sealant

The sealant is a little pricey but the bottle goes a really long way because so little is used to seal and protect.

I used Dupli-Color's black bumper coating. It has a satin finish, and is supposed to be more durable than regular paint. I have about three or four thousand miles on the car since painting them, and still no chips. IMO, it matches the grill perfectly. It comes in a few different colors, so be sure to get the black if you go this route.

Just use a Scotchbrite pad or fine grade wet sandpaper to scuff up the housings to give the paint something to bite into. I wanted to use Dupli-Color's adhesion promoter, but the can wouldn't spray. Neither would the second one that I exchanged the first one for, so I just gave up on it.

Where did you find the black housings? I'm thinkining about buying them for the same reason of possibly going back original. Is your fit a base or sport model?
