Woot for the Fit!
Dang i didn't know the Jetta's were that cheap, figured they were in the low 20's. Guess I never really shopped VW to find out.

consumer reports dont usually get anything car related right, but it looks
like they finally did this time.

I was trying to figure that out also...what's weird is the Scion tc should be in the top 5 if it's only by price, but isn't.
I think the first 5 are the ones they recommend lowest price. It means the Scion is not one they would recommend for the price in top 5. The remaining list at the bottom is broken down by car category and then alphabetical.

I think I understand what you're saying...they listed the top 5 by price. So we don't know which of the top 5 is their number one pick, but we know that the Fit is the cheapest of the top 5...right?
I would be more excited about this ranking if there weren't two Hyundai's in the top 5 also. Not great company to be in. Sadly, I'm also of the opinion that Consumer Reports knows absolutely nothing about cars or much anything else.
Still nice to get a good mention I guess.

hyundai's are rated pretty well and now looked upon favorably by most. (well, except stubborn honda heads i guess.) thats decent company to me. shows that honda, despite tougher competition is still tops.
and to he was wondering, you can get a decently equipped jetta for less than 20k BRAND NEW.
you can get the wolfsburg edition with a leather interior 6 disc premium audio system and 2.0t 200hp engine with dsg for a hair over 20k.

VW dealers in my area are pretty much crap. i have first hand experience last
year when i was looking at the R32's. terrible service. if i still want the R32
in a year or so, im going to drive across town and try another dealership.

yes i would love a new r32 as well. i've lucked out though, charlotte area vw dealers are VERY very nice, trying to win themselves a good rep i bet.
in a couple years (if its still what i fancy) i should be able to pick one up at a good price. (hopefully either in white or grey.)
