Central Ohio Fit Meet ?
#43
Well, mine is soon going into the garage for winter. Probably about when the Fit arrives, if it's on schedule for the 1st week of November (estimated by me).
The 5 speed is very nice! Sam routed me through a park that was all hills & twisties. The little car had enough grunt, even with 3 adults and a 4-year-old, to handle the hills & accelerate out of corners quite nicely, and I wasn't pushing it at all. I'm going to enjoy mine, if it ever comes in....

Are there some owners in your area that just drive all winter?
Are you in an area with moderate to heavy snow?
I lived in Chicago for five years and drove a chevy chevette and Honda civic sedan through every winter. Always started up even at 80 degrees below zero and always drove with all season tires with no real problems.

FitSam was talking about his "S", the S2000. Like me, he stores the S2000 over the winter safe & dry in the garage. Both of us will have Fits to drive this winter, though!
Some folks drive their S2000s year round, but those of us who bought the car as a weekend fun car and who expect the car to last a long time generally don't venture out with it once the salt shows up on the roads. We often get pretty heavy snow here - snow tires are definitely worth it around here.

As more and more fits seem to be surfacing I'd like to keep this thread fresh so the newer members can chime in. Are we still interested in having a meet somewhere? Possibly a few meets due to locations/travel distances? I am seeing Cleveland area, Dayton, Columbus, Mt. Vernon, Youngstown, Toledo, and I'm sure I missed a few. Last I remember we thought maybe spring time would be best. Any new ideas, thoughts, suggestions? I personally wouldn't mind driving 90 mins. or so if we have enough interest. I realize it's still early, but I think it would be nice to get some ideas so we may plan appropriately. That is all. Thanks.

I spent a few hours this weekend at Slate Run, a metropark in the Columbus area, and thought maybe something like that would be a good place for a meet. Open space, lots of parking, grills and picnic table. I thought maybe a cookout style get together might be nice. being a park, kids and pets are welcome, so we wouldn't need to worry about planning around that (if that's even a concern). just a thought. let me know what you guys think.
Also, I know there at least a couple of nice parks in the Cleveland area as well, for those of us who might be closer to there. As far as the rest of the state, I'm pretty unfamiliar with things, but chime in if you know of a good location or have a better idea. Thanks.
