e.g.r. valve maintenance

does anyone have any pics & tips for maintenance of the e.g.r. valve? i
can see how to get it off the vehicle, but was wondering how much of it
to take apart. does the part held by springs come apart easily? does
it always break the manifold gasket on removal?
