Fit vs. Civic Wagon

Fit vs. Civic Wagon
Does anybody have the length/width specs of the old Civic Wagons (84-91) vs. the Fit's? Honda folks are telling me the Fit is the same size as the Civic Wagon. Been waiting all these years for Honda to bring it back, and I swear, it was closer to the size of a Matrix (which is 13 inches longer than the Fit.)
Honda in Torrance claims not to have an old manual for the Civic Wagon. I'm thinking of visiting a junkyard with measuring tape in hand. Anybody know the specs? The Fit just looks so tiny...
Don't know why Honda didn't just bring back the Civic Wagon if it thinks the Civics are selling best, or introduce the Fit as a hybrid. C'mon Honda, Toyota's beat you to the punch twice -- with the Prius and its 60/40 split rear seats and the Highlander Hybrid. Nissan Versa is gorgeous, but the rear seats not only don't fold flat, they sit so high up folded as to render it useless for any real cargo lugging. Otherwise, it's closer to the Matrix in size and has the best standard features package of its class -- plus optional sunroof.
Sill, the Civic Wagon was awesome. If the frame hadn't rusted out, I'd still be driving my '85 Civic Wagon. Honda, please bring it back...
Thanks!

I drove a 85 Civic Wagon too and still remmember putting a 27" Sony TV with box in the back (with rear seat fold down) ...
I don't have the manual anymore but I don't "feel" that Fit is the same size as my Civic Wagon. I could be wrong. It'd be great if someone can confirm with spec.

I also had an 85 wagon and I loved her too. Unfortunately it is also now in metal heaven. It was quite roomy but why trip on the interior dimensions so? I haven't loaded up the Fit like I used to the wagon and with the interior being black it's misleading, but my guess is it is probably not as big or as wide.
The Fit is not the Civic wagon of yesteryear but it's not so bad. Give it a chance cuz those old wagons are not coming back.

Too busy with all the SUV's to make a wagon I guess. Wagons are not cool enough, while SUV's have that macho image.

Saw my first Fit today, on the street two cars away from TWO first gen. civic wagons. The Fit looked narrower and slightly smaller in every dimension but wow, what a difference in refinement! The Fit does not say 'economy car' at all. Those civics looked so tired and drab (and beige!)

Comparison of Fit and Civic Wagon
This article popped up today in my "Google Alert". It includes a paragraph on the comparison.

I had an '85 Civic Wagon and loved it. That's how I found the Fit -- a Honda salesman told me to check out the Fit website after I complained that I wanted Honda to reintroduce the CW. I'm very happy with my Fit. If the wagon came back today I wonder how much Honda would charge for it, and if I could still afford it!
