New Topic Area - Honda Bulletins

Have an area to talk about recalls and Honda bulletins. Currently, there is a safety recall on 08 Fits. It has not yet been released to the general public.

It's a wiring harness that runs under the carpet along the firewall inside the car. They state that it can get corroded and cause malfunctions with the airbags. My brother-in-law is supposed to be giving me more info. I know that my Fit is in this recall.

Thanks, please post more details when you get them (especially the cars affected). A recall/TSB forum, or sticky, is a great idea.

Oh snap! I got the 7th car built in 08... mine's got to be on that list... definitely keep us updated if Honda's gonna make a recall as big as this.

It is only salt belt states upper midwest and northeast at this point. Basically if you have road salt and snow on your feet and that combination seeps through the carpet and can cause the wire splices to corrode the dealer will fix it.

this bulletin's not supposed to be out until dec. 15 or something i think it says. even then, they'll probably mail it to us like they did with the airbag recall too. they never put that one up on ownerlink either. i guess ownerlink is useless haha

Oh, holy crap. I just bought an '08 Fit two days ago (btw it is ****ing sweet!). That sucks. They do put salt on the roads sometimes here in Vancouver although not very much. STILL, if there are not-that-well-protected spliced wires under there, I'd kind of want those sealed up either way - what if someone spills a drink, orange juice or something? That stuff is acidic and would corrode the metal I am sure. I'll give it a couple weeks and see if I get a letter regarding this.. if not will call up the dealership heh.

also, if this is a recall, did the dealer fix it before i took delivery of the car?
