2008 fit sport cold start issue

Hi, I did a quick search and couldn’t find a thread with my symptoms so I figured I’d post here. 2008 fit wouldn’t start so I replaced the battery. All was well after that, but when it gets cold it won’t start. It’s acting like there’s no choke. It turns over and almost but not quite catches, and it will do that until I wear the battery down, so I’m thinking the first battery I replaced was probably not bad, even though it was 4 years old. Once I can manage to get it started it runs great. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Turn ignition on without starting engine; you should her gas pump priming for 2 seconds
Assuming it is not immobilizer issue (no flashing key)
check the gas pump connection for melted plug
You can find some YT videos what's going on there
.Other issues will be related to delayed maintenance (spark plugs)

Thanks

I will check that. If it’s above 30 degrees it seems fine.

Valve adjustment can cause similar symptoms of hard starts where it might fire every now and then but not completely start. Try holding the gas pedal down when starting I've found that this can sometimes help. Check all the usual suspects such as spark plugs, air filter, vacuum leaks, clean MAF sensor. Also make sure spark plugs are tight as we have had some problems with them loosening up and causing compression issues.

edit: oops he’s right no MAF on 07-08
