'07 Fit Hum

Hello all, My daughter's '07 Fit Sport (118K miles) is producing a rhythmic hum from the engine compartment every now and again while she is stopped and the car is idling...goes away when she accelerates to speed. Has only happened a couple of times so far. You can hear it in the video...gotta ignore the turn signal. Any ideas?
thx

from the noise, i would suspect blown engine or trans mount. noise sounds metal clattering against metal.

Understand...is there a method to determine which mount may be the culprit? Thanks!

Assuming the car is automatic:
Noise in drive or reverse only: the rear center mount
Noise in all ranges: jack the engine slightly when it's running; if sound goes away check the passenger side motor mount for crack around the rubber cone

check for cracks or rubber seperation, also have someone rev the motor, which will load up the mounts and help check for wear

So I may have located the source...was checking the different motor/transmission mounts and noticed the catalytic converter heat shield was missing a couple of corner bolts that
had rusted out. The two pieces were loose and could rattle together, so I wired em together nice and snug. So far no repeat of the noise...we'll see if that did the trick.

cat heat shields will rust into nothing in almost any car but if thats not your source of noise then its the manifold heat shield vibrating.
