Cruise control for mechanical throttle
Cruise control for mechanical throttle
Hello there!
I'm new to this forum, but have my 2008 Honda Fit since brand new. As most Fit owners at that time, I missed the cruise control very much. Unfortunately it seems the only aftermarket solutions available in my country Brazil are for drive-by-wire cars, but mine came with an old style accelerator cable connecting the gas pedal to the air intake valve.
Do any forum member have some idea on how to do it? I already bought a Hyundai I30 cruise control motor including the wire to connect it to the air valve spool, and I think it is possible to get all necessary signals to operate the motor (speed sensor, brake signal, indicator lights and control buttons), but would like to get some help regarding how to remove the air bag from steering wheel and the best point to get those electrical signals.
I have some DIY experience, like building my own 100% electric car dressed as a 1911 Ford Model T. It should not be so difficult to adapt that little I30 CC, provided I know how to disassemble my Fit steering wheel without blowing the air bag open.
I'll greatly appreciate any help!
