high pitch whine.

so i was driving today and my car was making an unusual whine. but i had to take the kid to the doctor so i just dealt. it was not the transmission. as i could rev it while clutched and it still made the whine. on the way home it got very loud and i clutched in for fear of something breaking but when i put it back in gear the whine just seemingly disappeared. anything that could cause that and then just disappear. or in general what could possibly cause a high pitched whine in the fuel system. injectors maybe? it should be noted it is cold as the crack of a witch in Canada atm. but i normally let the lil girl warm herself for about fifteen minutes before driving. again any spitballs appreciated.

it could be coming from your compressor. i took it to the workshop and they said the noise came from the tensioner bearing. so i asked them to replace it and so far the noise is not there anymore.
