2007 Honda Fit Cruise Control Set/Decel Button
2007 Honda Fit Cruise Control Set/Decel Button
2007 honda fit. The set/decel button on the steering wheel is smashed in, essentially making the button feel dead (zero play). I called a couple of shops and the dealer, the general consensus is that I would need to get a "new" steering wheel which is no longer available directly from Honda. I see a few used ones on Ebay that would require an airbag and cover etc.
Any other recommendations or is a new steering wheel the only path to success?

Sounds like you were dealing with someone that didn't know what they were talking about.
If your set/decel button has no feedback within it (like the temp contact has broken) then you'll need to replace just the switch. Part number is 36770-SLN-A01. You WILL need to disable the SRS system (disconnect battery and wait at least 3 minutes) and remove the steering wheel to replace it.
I'd also make sure that the pedal stopper pads are intact as well. They get brittle with time and eventually break and flake apart on your floorboard. If broken/missing you'll see that either cruise will not set, brake lights will stay on, or both depending on which pad breaks. Part number is 46505-SA5-000.

We had the pedal stopper pad issue on a 2011 insight just a few weeks ago (we have a fleet of teenagers), took me a few minutes to figure out what was happening. I will check out the replacement buttons for the steering wheel and then work on the replacement.
Thanks for the feedback.

Just fixed my button
I ordered the whole switch and plastic steering piece from partsgeek. It was easy to replace. Disconnect battery. 2 T30 hex bolts holding the air bag in. Just let it rest on steering wheel. 3 phillips head screws hold in the plastic piece, 2 in back, 1 in front. Remove electrical connection and then replace it with the new piece. Reassemble.
Ive changed my steering wheel from one from a junk yard place. It cost me 20$ and the leather was perfect. They are not allowed to sell the airbag.
You can remove your airbag/horn button fairly easily and reuse it and just swap out the steering wheel.
