Intermittent power loss when accellerating

2007 Honda Fit Base model MT. 240k km Beginning last week, when merging at speed the engine cut out for about 2-3 seconds, then all the instrument gauge lit up as it does when you first insert your ignition key. It lost the electric power steering during these few seconds. Then all the instrument gauges went back to normal and all was well again.Since then it has happened 7 times in total. Always with a warm engine and on accelerating. I suspect the fuel pump. but as it is such a costly repair I want to be sure. Thoughts?
