I want an 09 Steering Wheel

I'm not that crazy about how the 09 Fit looks, but I want that steering wheel! Anyone know if it will fit the GD3?

The splines are the same...so it should bolt up.... It might depend on if you have cruise control too..

Yeah I have cruise control. I wonder if its plug and play. The audio controls would be nice as well.

^^With the stock deck you're probably right, but they sell a kit that makes steering wheel audio controls work with any aftermarket deck. I had one in my Focus SVT.

I had this one:

PAC SWI-X Steering Wheel Audio Interface (Universal) : ShoppersChoice.com

but I don't remember paying that much.

What's so special about the 09 wheel? It's the same one in all the Civic coupes and the FA5. I used one for a year and it wasn't anything special compared to the leather-wrapped one in the GD3 sport.

I have a '06 Si and I like the steering wheel a lot better than the GD3. It has more style and looks sportier.

Are you sure the wheel on the 09 Fit is the same as the 8th gen Civic? If so might as well buy the wheel from the JDM Civic Type R.

I hated my 8th gen steering wheel. On longer drives I like to rest my hand on the bottom of the wheel instead of holding it, which is impossible with it. Back in the day we used to call it the vagina wheel over on 8thcivic, haha.

I know it looks like the Civic steering wheel, but is it the same wheel and does it mount the same?

Yes it's the same wheel and it will work on the GD3. Someone else retro'd one in his Fit about a year ago. You'll have to be a pioneer on the cruise control and stereo controls.

Man, on these forums I've repeatedly defended the 09s but I thought, and it's completely subjective, that the steering wheel was one of the uglier points of the car. The cost of the wheel, cost of installation either in hours or cash and, invariably the several of those switches/buttons that will never work right, is it going to be worth it? MAN that thing has got an air bag in it. I'm guessing the price as a part is going to be high. COST/BENEFIT? The 09's seats look like the "the shit" for the fit. If I was going to bake off 2K for some GD3 upgrade, hell, I wouldn't do that either.

I Thought I saw the steering wheel from the JDM Civic Type R for about $400. Then you would have red stitching and a genuine Type R emblem. I wouldn't pay for installation I would do it myself. But you have a good point, the GD3 steering wheel isn't bad and it would probably be more work than it's worth to change it.

I want that in blue. I'm trying to do my interior black with blue accents (replacing all grey interior parts with blue).

But either way, the 09 Fit/Civic wheel is the hotsex compared to the old one. I don't have Cruise or anything else, so I'm sure I could get a direct bolt in (as long as I could wire up the airbag).

The Civic DX and the GE8 Bases both have the steering wheels without buttons on them. So if you don't need to wire up cruise control or anything, one of those two would be the way to go. Civic DX's are few and far between in the states so I'm not sure how easy it would be to find a totaled one to buy a cheap steering wheel off of.

You can prob find a steering wheel remote to clip on your current wheel- I know Pioneer used to make them. Had one in my SE-R few years ago.
