Smile Skidplate for the Fit?

Does anybody know of a company that sells skidplates for the 2007 Fit?

I traverse a gravel road fairly frequently and have had the Fit into the shop a couple of times for damage done by rocks I didn't quite dodge quickly enough. It occurs to me that a skidplate might make a lot of sense, but before I go contact a metal shop about making one I thought I'd check to see if anybody knows about one that might be for sale out there somewhere.

Thanks much.....

Just a quick update: I've done some searching and consulted with the local Honda mechanics, but they've not heard of such a thing nor have I found anything online.

Reckon the next stop is a custom shop to get a bid on making one.....I'll post with updates as they occur.

As Matt said, Beatrush makes an underpanel.

True, and I looked at that but there's not enough info on it on the site. It looks like it's metal but it doesn't actually say that anywhere that I can find. Does anybody know?

Dang, if only I'd thought of that......

<grin>

As of my post earlier they hadn't answered, unfortunately. I've been poking around other forums to see if somebody else might have bought this but so far no luck--which is definitely a bummer.

When I pictured this thing in my head I actually had it running farther back under the driver rather than just under the engine compartment proper. If I had one custom made so that it extended farther back I'd need to ensure that I put those vents in there for cooling.

Just noticed your .sig--you're going to lower your Fit? Here I am wishing I could raise the dang thing! Guess it all depends on where you drive, huh?

Drive slower.

Seriously, the Fit is a road-going car. Was never meant to super-speed along dirt/gravel roads.

Your only option, IMO, is a fab shop.

Its aluminum I believe. It takes some mods to fit as its made for the JDM Fits.
Just some metal brackets.

I drive my car like everyone else. I actually had some fun on a muddy road last night.
Since my car is so low, I DO want a gas tank guard. Just for safety.

Yeah, it's really intended to have asphalt under it. Unfortunately my new house is up a gravel road so, there ya go.

Funny thing is my old Tercel (1988) never had any trouble on this road with rocks or whatnot, but then it was a smidge taller than the Fit as well.

It is a terribly low car. I love it, but that part definitely takes getting used to....I now know the "flat" entrance/exit to every parking lot around!

I think I'll get an estimate on what it might take for a heavier duty skidplate, and then I'll figure out whether to go with this item or have it custom made.

Thanks for the materials info!

I'll ask what that might cost when I have the shop here give me an estimate; that'll give you something to go on, anyway.

I wouldn't cover the entire undercarriage, because Honda may have engineered the engine bay to route air through the rear bottom of the engine bay.

lol sorry about that.
one quick thing you can do to raise the car is get bigger tires.
just 1, 2 or 3 side wall numbers higher and you'll be good.

my dad does this in the winter on his corolla. he has an
extra set of wheels mind you. but in any case he does it for the
winter with taller tires. never gets stuck thanks to his
ALL-TRAC

also keep us posted if you come up with any prices on the
custom plate.

Hmmm...I hadn't thought about that. The tires that are on there are the stock ones (still in pretty good shape) but I'll bear that in mind down the road. Doing this would give you what, maybe a half inch? Anything would help I think.

Thanks for the tip!

He does raise a good point, actually....it may be engineered to use the flow of air to cool the tranny and such.

I know the s2k is designed to allow air to exit the bottom rear of the engine bay, kinda creating a scavenging effect to pull air thru
