armrest

Hi supaumar
Glad you like the armrest, even better you got it for $70 + I almost got the black/silver stripe but went with black on black. If it moves on you with forward pressure apply velcro to left/right sides and it won't budge.
Now get a dead pedal and your set.

Did the JDM Armrest fit in the end?

On my car, the silver plastic disk through which the shift lever sticks, is oval... it is longer fore and aft than it is wide (left to right).
The hole in the JDM armrest that I received is round (other JDM armrests might be different -- who knows).
My oval plastic disk doesn't fit into the round hole.

I'll post the photos I took after I give the vendor a chance to look at them... I do not want to say anything more than that until I give them a chance to tell me that somehow I ordered the wrong part or some other explanation...
Did you get it to fit? Any pics? I'm thinking of getting one for my 08 LX Auto and I'm curious if you've sorted it out, cut it to fit, or sent it back?

What's the word?

The better part of valor...

I sent it back, finally deciding against trying to cut it to fit. Without being able to make a jig and without access to some kind of low rpm router, I think that cutting it would be nearly impossible. And the last thing I wanted was some kind of hacked up piece of plastic, mocking my every move.
What I would suggest you do is to take our your existing center console and trace the round/oval opening with paper and pencil and send it to whoever is selling it. Alternatively, you could cut out a round/oval plug that perfectly fits the hole you've got and send that small piece of cardboard.
Either way it will cost you all of 44 cents to send THEM a tracing... they can then just hold your paper up to their product to determine if it will fit or not, and then decide to sell it to you.

One more question...

You said that the oval cover was longer at the fore and aft, but was it wider or narrower in the middle area (side to side)?

I'm thinking I'll cut it but I just wanna know whether the sides are wider than the cover - in which case I'll need filler either way and that would totally suck.

Thanks for the help!

Need to add...?

Ermm... I don't think you'll have to add any material... but let's face it: you're putting two parts together that were not made to fit.
Cutting is definitely going to be difficult... there are lots of fins and other molded-in crap underneath this part which will make cutting tough. Plus, even if you were able to cut two perfect slivers out of this piece (which is just about impossible to clamp securely), you will then need to finish the cut edges so it doesn't look, well, cut.

That said, here's my disclaimer... I'm a musician, not a machinist. I can't deal with cutting plastic very well, and your mileage may vary.

Happy hacking, you fit freak!
