I had one of those tiny screws that hold the left & right halves together come loose & disappear. I contacted H-Fit so they could send me the exact screw...and they did. I haven't seen any cracks though...I better check.

Your in great hands George. Mine cracked around the intake port and wouldn't hold the filter anymore. I was lucky a chunk didn't break off and get sucked into the engine. But i contacted H-fit and i told them the issue and sent them pix. They told me to send it back. The same day they received it, they emailed me saying it was a manufacturered defect and they sent me a brand new one with a new serial number. they even shipped it back UPS and i got it like 2 days later. WONDERFUL company to deal with!

I wonder if there is stress being put on it because it is against the battery? When I was watching the Fit engine on the dyno I was surprised to see just how much the whole thing dances around in the engine bay.
When you corner I wonder if the engine moves just enough to compress it and cause this problem, can you guys make extra space between the battery and the intake? Maybe changing out to a smaller battery will help.

It probably just needs a vibration damper at the mounts. Looks like the torque from the motor moving during acceleration slowly stresses where the connector is. I am willing to bet where the intake mounts to the car is rigid, and doesn't have a rubber vibration damper. From the pic it broke from a twisting motion. What type of material is it made of?

Mine's going through its first Interior Alaska winter, just made it through two weeks of temps as low as -45 and no problem so far. Will definitely keep looking; we are having a warm snap right now and I just cleaned and re-oiled the filter. By the way, no startup or driveability issues at -45 (plugged in). I did leave it for two hours outside a movie theatre at -35 not plugged in, and it started just fine (Mobil1 0W-20).

that 0-20 will help alot for cold starts. When I go somewhere really cold, I bring my Jumpbox with me, 1000amp, and then plug in a solar tender to the jumpbox so it stays at peak power. I have used it on so many people's car, and almost all my vehicles at some point. not yet on the fit
