Rim offset

Hi,

I've a Jazz 2005 Vti-s and my tyres are Potenza 185/55/15 and I'm thinking of getting Buddy Club P1 SF Challenge rims.

Would the rim size from below fit on my tyres?

15x6.5 +35 4x100 & 15x6.5 +42 4x100

Would it do any scraping or rubbing to the calipers or guards?

go with the 42 offset and you will be in the clear with no rubbing.

My friend you are correct! I would go with the 35Offset. Better for stance. They might rub a little depending on the dip on the road and also how low you are.

EDIT: i currently run a 38 offset and it works fine. 15x6.5 wont rub as much like 15x7 (of course since its not as wide) I say do 35 but its your car my friend. Also using the stock tires i dont know if that will work....... any experts on 185/55 on a 15x6.5?? i say go with 195/50

I vote for the 42 offset.
I had 38 offset on my GD3 and some of the time I wished they were 40-42

+ if you get the 42 and you want the wheels out further, you can add 5MM spacers. If you get the 35 offset and you dont like how the wheels stick out past the fender, or you rub, then you are screwed with no options

+42 at the bare minimum, you don't have to worry about caliper clearance but rather fender rub at the rear.

I would hunt around for +45 if you can find it, lots of people have rubbing with +42.

I personally bought tires with +42 and the rubbing was so bad I had to exchange the rims for ones with a +45 offset... amazing what difference 3mm's can make. Here are the combo's I have been through so far:

Tenzo GF7's with +42 offset wrapped in 17/205/40's.... rear rubbing, returned the rims a couple weeks later after cutting out the plastic clip in the back did not work.

RTX Neurotoxin's with +45 offset wrapped in 17/205/40's.... NO RUBBING! yah! BUT this is stock... read on below!

But then I dropped 1.5" in the front and 1" in the rear... I had both front and rear rubbing. This picture shows the car with the same rims, only wrapped in 17/195/40 which does not rub at all.... which is good because I really use my car

whoa!!!! you are going apples to oranges!

he is talking 15 x 6.5, you are talking 17 X at least 7 if not 7.5

Here are my 15 X 6 SSR's, 38 offset, I often wished they were 40-42 offset

And yes, i had to machine my brake caliper brackets for this wheel to work.

i agree with the posts above. im currently running
15x7 +40mm 195/50/15's and sometimes when i
hit a HUGE dip my front rubs a tad. (im lowered about
-1.5" front -1.3" rear.

so next set will be 15x6.5's in the +40 to 42mm range
running the same size tires.

Guys!!!! my car is stock standard. Nothing has changed. Car is not lowered what so ever. Stock suspension, stock height, stock rim with potenza rubbers.

So I should go with 35 or 42+ offset?

Did anybody even read my whole in depth post.... it does not apply to just 17" tires. The stock offset is way higher than even +42, if you go with +35 there is a risk you will rub over bumps. The +42 will also allow you to run wider tires like 205 or maybe even 215's in a 15" size.

Go with +42

yes sir, love your car!,
the only thing I wanted to clarify is you suggested even 45 would be better.
well 45 was not a choice in the wheel he would love to have.
And with 15 x 6.5 42 would be perfect IMHO, 45 could look too sunken in.
Stock sport wheel is +55 offset BTW
With something as important as a wheel choice, I try to read all the details and give accurate honest advice

i'd get +42. you'll keep a better steering feel than with +35.
