Just my luck...

Don't mean to complain but I am on my 2nd week of unemployment and I start getting this rash on my knee
over the weekend. I don't have insurance until I start the new job next week. So I go to the doctor and she said I have shingles! Gez, chickenpox revenge. The antiviral antibiotic they want to give me cost $300.00
that is almost enough to purchase new rims - so I am waiting to see if they can call in something not so expensive. I did have a good Fit day, the trash guys were in the alley this morning when I pulled the car out of the garage and they had to see it. Had to give them the entire preview of the car from the magic seats to the hatch back. A younger guy working with them really liked it and is looking for a new car but did not believe he could pick up girls in the car. I told him the guys I know did not have any problem in that department and that most girls call it a "cute" car. Anyway, shingles during unemployment are not fun! My order from JDM Password has been shipped so that is the silver lining.

Look on the bright side, because you aren't at work you can't miss the UPS guy dropping off your new goodies! What did you order from Password JDM BTW? Also, you wouldn't be going to work with the shingles anyway so you just saved your first sick day. You can be like Spongebob, standing next to the mailbox "I'm waiting, I'm waiting........."

sorry to hear. shingles usually come at very stressful times when your immune system is down. becareful cause you can get other serious illness while your immune system is down!

bascially anyone can get shingles cause if you've had chicken pox or vaccinations for it, it can creep out of its sort of 'sleeping' state when your immune system is down.

relax, take it easy, eat sleep well.

Yes, I am planning to call the new doctor I will be working for on Thursday. He had offered to give me the month of March off before I start working and I may delay going to work another week. I would not want to expose a patient to this and he has a large older population. From JDM I ordered the CF manifold cover. Thought it would give the bay some excitment.

Thanks! I am on the 300.00 antiviral and plan to put all the work I was scheduled to do on the house on hold for now and just take it easy. Give me time to play the PS2 and play on the computer!

OK now even with shingles I am happy! Got this in the mail today:

I could not believe the gifts from JDM Password. They sent me a banner which I plan to put up in my garage, bumper stickers, laynard and mouse pad, all for free. Special giveaway they are having. I also ordered one of their t-shirts for when I am showing the car. I can't wait to get the manifold cover on and I am watching Hot Import Nights on Speed - life is good again!

woooo! nice.

im no doc, but shingles from wat i know is not really
contageous. it *might* spread to someone that have not
had chicken pox or shots for it, but that's usually infants.
and if the person does not touch your blister chances are
no one will get it.

so hope that kinda calms you down if you were feeling like
you had to be confined inside your house or something.
go out for a nice walk, etc.

This is me trying not to be stressed! Thanks for the info - I was told while the blisters are festering to not get around anyone who had not had the chickenpox. However, it hurts to wear long pants and it is too cold out for shorts. I am having a Speed channel day and just sitting here with the laptop.

Anything you want to know about shingles

Shingles.com

It says on there it isn't contagious unless you haven't had the chickenpox before.
