I agree with this...principally the L-series motors are made to be fuel-sippers, even more than the old D-series were. The VTEC that goes into the L15As is just a bonus.

interesting. so what drew you to the Fit?
instead of say a rabbit or a mazda 3s or a cooper s?

I can't feel it nor hear the vtec transition. The fit just accelerates constantly until RPM is close to redline and doesn't jerk unless I switch gears. If there is an acceleration surge, it's probably too small for me to feel it... But really, what can you expect from a 109 HP car?

I let someone drive my car once and he said, "the engine feels smooth."

and the Fit doesn't come with an H22 or the standard VTEC setup from an H22... so what does that have to do with anything in this thread?

The point is the Fit's VTEC is for economy, you can't feel or hear a difference. Personally I would be pissed if my car got loud and still wouldn't get out of its own way.

Really it has nothing to do with the thread. I was asking if you could hear the crossover. I was told you couldn't. Then I posted that it's too bad, and that I missed my H22 VTEC crossover. A guy stated that I "didn't need to pee my pants over VTEC engaging." Asked him if he ever drove an H22 to hear it. He then called me a newb and said I only cared about engine sounds. I know now that you can't hear it engage, I got my answer. The other guy was giving me a hassle. That's pretty much it.

Well the NEW Fit VTEC crossover is SEX with an intake installed. you hear 2 stages!! not the valve opening but there is a 1st vtec that's a little noticable around 5k+ rpm then right before redline that 2nd Vtec engages engine screams!! almost as good as a K20.. haha but not quite

also, it does pull harder! the older fits taper off power and the new fit seems like it wants to rev higher!

Your car gets what?? Wow I guess I am lucky if my Fit gets 90! And no v-tec cross over. Ordered a K&N performance intake since my SSI bit the dust.

The fit is a gas saver. Plain and simple. It will never be confused with speed or power. So you can listen and hear that vtec crossover all you want...you'll be getting smoked either way.
the difference between these n00bz and you OG's is that you cool guys are actually ass holes who think they know everything and anyone who doesn't know as much as you in an idiot.
you got pissed at someone for making a thread with an honest question lol
i have 8k posts on a local honda thread so i know my shit, i'm just looking out for the OP so assholes like you won't make him stop getting on this site

I can hear my vtec engage, its not a ZOMG b series vtec, but the motor becomes audibly louder. I never feel it pull more, but it does feel smoother with all 4 intake valves open.

I feel it around 3500rpm. Way smoother. I shift better above 4500rpm than I do at 3k...

2,400 v-tec engages, wtf?

so recetnly i installed a v-tec signal (v-tec light mod) and the light turns on at 2,400 o.O i tried it in drive, sport, sport with no paddles, all different throttle positions. they all still turn on at and after 2,400 and turns off below 2,400. i know v-tec is suppose to engage at 2,800 - 3,400, but 2,400? i thought it was a fit?

2400 is correct for higher throttle positions. For very light throttle it should wait until 3400.
