Brake Pad Recommendations?

Was going to go get some OEM Brake Pads but I figure I could get some aftermarket for around the same price. Anything anyone would like to recommend? I'm at 30k or thereabouts, going to check the brakes later today to see if I need new pads.

Yeah just checked, problem is I'm not getting any braking feel all the way through the pedal until the end and then it bites a lot there. Wondering what could be the issue. Might need a fluid flush but I am not sure.

The manual says to change the brake fluid every 3 years, whether it needs it or not. Mine is over 3 years old now.

I'm thinking their might be air in my lines, but who knows. I'm nearing 2 years anyways.

I just bought cheap EBC Ultimax pads for my girls' Protege5.

If it were my car, I'd go with Hawk pads. Or EBC Greenstuff.

Hawk Pads provided good feel and stopping power but tend to be noisy. I would go with EBC Greenstuff.

I'd recommend Porterfield R4-S pads (wouldn't mess with the rear shoes honestly) Here's my write-up and review:

Been 6 months to the day and this is by far my favortie mod. Braking capability is much improved.

Not all Hawk pads are the same. The Hawk Ceramic provide slightly better stopping power with good wear and create very little dust, and definitely do not make any noise on my RX-8. I will always recommend them.
Maybe it's the Hawk HPS that get noisy. I've heard they provide even more stopping power but are pretty dusty.

i was shoppin for rear shoes but not sure on what to buy or if they even need to be changed yet. im gonna do the pads and rotors myself. but the car is goin to the shop for the lines and a fluid flush.
so any recomendations on the rear shoes, or if i should even bother yet?
i have never changes drum brakes and am a bit clueless on how to do it myself.

I would recommend the Ferodo DS2500 front pads:

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...-track-dd.html

And for brake fluid I flush them every year & bleed the brakes twice a year. Usually do that during spring time before I go for lapping events. It's a good idea to flush your brake fluid annually, especially if u live in a warmer region. It's a good idea to adjust the rear brake drums once a year too.

Rear drums don't need adjustment with regular usage of the parking brake. Also flushing the fluid annually is a little over the top...
