Help! Clanking/popping noise from front end

Hey guys, i have a GD3 just lowed the car with Tanabe DF210.
while i was dropping the spring the driver side axle popped off from what im guessing is the tranny (where it has the 3 ball bearings) so what we did was take off the boot, make sure the bearings where all there stuck it back in place, and put new grease in there. all went well for the time being drove around no problems, the springs settled in.

Now the problem is that on occasion the front end has a popping noise sounding like metal is hitting, the only time it does this is while im turning or if i go over a bump, or drive on bricks.

i made sure the shocks where set in place all the bolts on snug, and the springs looked like they where on there in the right spot.

I never un-screwed the 32inch nut on the knuckle for the axle, so i know that should be good

The one and only thing i haven't tried yet was getting an alignment.

ill be getting the alignment done asap but till then, any suggestions tips or anything that can help will be great.

The EXACT same thing happened to me but I haven't had time to take it in yet. Did you mess around with the steering control arm at all? I thought that might be my problem. I'm really confused as to what the problem may be. I had an alignment done the day I put my springs in. Subscribed for insight.

The steering control arm seems like its tight. Im not 100% what the problem is. Or the origin of the noise.

did u make sure u cut ur bump stops enough when u installed the lowering springs? The DF210's sit the lowest out of all the tanabe springs so u have to cut off about 25mm off the bump stops.

^ I don't think that is it, because we both have the same symptoms after the axle popped out of the cv joint.

Talked to the guys at the alignment shop they said it may be a damaged cv joint or bearing. On the axle. Will post later with more info

In for this info--I'm getting springs installed soon--I will be praying that my axle does not pop out, but if it does I'd like to know how to fix it.

Good luck to you guys.

Note New update. when you turn the tires left and right the rubber stopper where the spring goes though (in the engine bay) lifts up a little. they are looking at it now, and going to tighten the nut down on the hat to compress the spring a little more. hopefully thats it and we fix it

good news tho its not the CV joint! so they say

will keep it posted

yup im sure its the linkage because it seems tightened all the way at first but when ur tire moves up and down it shifts and loosens..

how to check:
try take off the tire and putting another jack under the axle and lifting it and see if the linkage for the under sway bar moves.. happen when i installed my skunk2s..

how to fix:
easy fix cuz its probably half stripped is use washers to tighten the gap..

goodluck

Oh true, let me tell them. i also noticed there are these plastic covers around the springs. we looking to see if we slide them to the ends, so the spring wont be on the bottom shock plate and the top hat. once they put that on they tightening nuts back on.

but ill deff look to see if the jack lifts up the shock though there
thanks!

its the little bar that connects your under sway bar to the shock

look at the pic this is where u need to look as u jack up your car then the axle to check to see if it moves because when it hangs with tension it seems tight but when u go over bumps or anything that makes your suspension move up and down it shifts..

if it does move and youve been driving on i just take it off put washers and make sure it flat and all the way in and tighten it..

the jack is key to check if its still loose.. be sure too lift it and lower it a few times to check and make sure no movement occurs..
