AUX Port

In my FIT there is an AUX port next to the cigar lighter which is not mentioned in the handbook. Presumably it is 12v anyone know the type of plug/connector that goes into this?

In my 2008 US Fit, the Aux jack is just a standard 1/8" headphone plug for plugging in an mp3 player.

Yeah. Just get one of these cords and plug in your MP3 player and you can listen through your stereo on the AUX setting.

1/8" would be 3.5mm in metric, FYI

The aux-in jack will accept your garden-variety 3.5mm stereo mini plug.

As the posters above stated this is for audio signals using an i-pod or other Mp3 players headphone jack via a 3.5mm plug cable. This socket DOES NOT carry any 12v power to the device. Power would have to be supplied by an adapter plugged into the cigar lighter socket.

From the '07 Owners Manual:

The auxiliary input jack is
underneath the accessory power
socket in the center pocket. The
system will accept auxiliary input
from standard audio accessories.
When a compatible audio unit is
connected to the jack, press the AUX
button to select it.

This AUX input also does not control the MP3 player; it's just an input. To control an MP3 player through the head unit, you need the USB adapter (which comes standard with the Sport). The USB adapter does provide power to a compatible MP3 player, and allows for its control through the head unit.

I've never owned a MP3 player, that's why I'm wondering if all MP3 players include a jack on them that except the headphone cord mentioned in this thread or do some MP3 players exclude the jack and are USB only

All players have a headphone jack so you can listen to them and some sort of USB interface for data transfer. The only exception I know of being the Ipod Shuffle. This has no USB and used a heavily modified headphone jack for all functions. It also has no display and you need special headphones to use it.

I have a Base so it has no aux. I installed an aftermarket mp3 player into the CD changer port. The songs are stored on a USB memory stick. Works great, less filling.

The interface box has an aux port too but there's no need for it with the memory stick.

It should, but your car might get the blue screen of death after you plug it in and then you'll have sell it for parts.

I bought the Honda Portable Navigation Sysem (re-branded Garmin Nuvi 250). I ran that aux cable from the Nuvi headphones jack to aux jack and listen to mp3s that I transfer to an SD card and plug it into the Nuvi. I get navigation directions through the audio speakers too.

I connect my iPhone to mine. I listen to Pandora Radio. I use my cigarette lighter to keep it charged. Normally, you couldn't listen to Pandora if your iPod/iPhone is controlled by the radio, but since it's using the headphone output jack of my iPhone, I control everything through my iPhone.

Not necessarily true. In my ITR the deck I have you can control your Ipod/Iphone through the deck itself, but I listen to Pandora on it all the time.

I use Slacker and Pandora most of the time as well. I usually just let them pipe the sound through the USB and charge my battery at the same time.
