im new and have a problem,:>
cvt transmission knocking solved!
hello,i am from malta(europe) and am new in this forum so if i am posting in the wrong thread ,im sorry.
this week i have bught a second hand japan import honda fit.
the model is a 2006 with automaic transmission and the engine is i-dsi 1330cc.the problem i have is that when i start the car it makes a knoking sound till the 1st gear engages,it also dose it on reverse.i have talked to a honda specialist and told me that the gearbox oil needs to be change cause its like burnt,so in other words he told me that if the new oil change dosent solve the problem ,it would be the gearbox.
so im going to change the oil next thursday.
do you think its cause of the oil?
thanks a lot.

Hello and welcome to the Fit Freaks!
In my opinion, what you are describing is a throw out bearing going bad. This is the bearing that pushes against the pressure plate in the clutch.
If this is the case is is a fairly inexpensive fix.
While repairing this problem have the mechanic also refinish the steel plates and install a new clutch disk while he has the transmission off of the engine.

Wait a minute, he mentioned an automatic transmission. If it was a manual gearbox we're talking about the throwout bearing would be something to look into, but he might not even have one.
Cheapest fix is to flush and fill the automatic transmission fluid. Have it done. If the problem goes away, great; if the problem doesn't...it's a much more expensive fix.

Religious replacement of the CVT fluid is a MUST. Don't let it go past the scheduled replacement interval, and DO NOT use any other fluid for the CVT. Use only Honda's CVT fluid.
You should have it checked again then. Apparently changing the CVTF alone isn't enough.
Some people here have tried refilling and flushing the CVTF three times, although I'm not sure how well that worked.
Have the CVT checked. HTH

fixed.
hi, got the car from the mechanic.he flushed the cvt fluid 2 more times, and the car seems to be fine for now.if you press the gas pedal ll the way down fast on 1st gear it dose it a bit, but if you drive normal it dosent do it. my mechanic told me that the problem is to change the start up cluth, but if you dont you arent making any damage.
Where I come from, we have both the L13A3 i-DSI and the L15A1 VTEC engines...I still prefer the bigger VTEC one. :P But I don't have much of a problem with my L13A3 in daily driving.
Glad your problem is solved, more or less
