Recall message from Honda Owner Link site...

Hi guys,

I've just checked the Honda Owner Link site & got this from the 'Recall' section:

& this, after clicking the 'Description' link:

Name: Recall_2.png
Views: 206
Size: 79.8 KB

I've visited that section several time be4 & it all said that my 08Fit (VIN#) was not in teh recall list

Has any GD owner received the mail from Honda yet ?

I also got a recall letter today.

What annoys me the letter says, "Please plan to leave your vehicle for a half a day to allow the dealer flexibility in scheduling for the install."

wtf leave my Fit a half a day at the dealership to install one power window switch cover!?!

I'd rather just pick up the cover and install it myself in 15 minutes.

.

seriously, me too. i don't want to risk having an incompetent tech that just scratches and breaks everything he/she touches.

Got it 3/27/10 and I inclined to agree (maybe not as strongly as some here), but half a day? and I have seen the damage that can be inflicted to our interior plastic parts with a screw driver in the wrong hands. I will talk to the dealership were I would take it by and see if they will give me the part if I fill out the p.w. and turn it in.
Worth a try.

I also got mine mid of last week. I would try getting the part as well and will try to install it myself if the dealership will give it to me.

Got my letter a couple of days ago ('08 Fit). I suspect that Honda won't allow the cover to be customer-installed because the recall also includes inspecting the switch. I hope someone who gets the new cover installed will post a pic; I wonder if it's just a little rubber boot or a whole new cover. I also hope the fix doesn't mess up anyone who's installed the color-coded covers.

I just made an appointment to take mine in this week, even though I never received a letter from Honda. After giving them my vin number and the whole 9 yards I was able to convince them my car unfortunately qualifies.

All it is is a 2 inch wide piece of vapor wrap installed around the window switch. I watched them do mine (work at the dealership) Took 5 minutes they don't even remove the door panel, just the outside of the armrest.

Had mine at the dealer for an oil change and they didn't even mention it. It's a non-issue as far as I am concerned.

I got my recall a few weeks ago but quite frankly I was afraid to let someone work on my car. The rest of my post will tell you why.
I brought my fit in today for the recall work and decided to have them check my manual tranny fluid at the same time because I wasn't confident that I had added the correct amount after draining it. Anyway, they said no problem. When the service writer told me my car was done I asked if they'd checked the tranny fluid and he said that they had. Well, I knew they hadn't because the window in the lobby gave a clear view to my car and it never went up on the hoist. When I told him this he copped an attitude about it and asked the tech to verify. Sure enough they hadn't checked it. Well, he pulled my car back into the bay and did the tranny check and a few minutes later I drove off with my car. Two blocks down the road I realized that they broke my armrest so I turned around and pulled it back into the service department. They asked me what was the matter and all I could do was point at the armrest and shake my head.
It never fails. Nearly every time someone works on my car they break it.

It was RBH. The thing that bugs me is that I've broken panel tabs and clips before on cars quite a few times and you always know when you do it. You here the piece drop on the floor and things don't go back together right. All they had to do was say "our bad, we'll get another one ordered for you". But they just banked on the fact that most people don't check there car out after work is done.

It's hard not to be paranoid after stuff like that. What a bunch of jerks. What did they do - are they going to get you a new armrest?
