Anyone riding Motegi rims?

Ok the white rims are out! Just can't find anything that I like and because of the bad winter here and the multiple rock chips on my hood - the car is taking a new direction. I am ordering a CF hood and I've decided that I want to go with a black rim and machined lip. I am leaning towards Motegi MR2048 Sx5. Has anyone on the forum ever purchased a Motegi rim and how was the rim as far as holding up and any problems?

Thanks!

Looks like the only color they come in is black. If I was going to purchase rims, I'd probably be guilty of going for chrome ones or possibly silver to match the color of my car.

I haven't have any experience with Motegi rims but I did notice a bit of a problem. I don't know what size rim you are interested in but in the link below is the Motegi SX5 and what I noticed is that the 15" and 16" have a +35mm offset; this low of an offset may rub at stock height with the 16" and will rub if you are lowered on both because the rim's center-line is pushed out 20 millimeters (approx. 0.7874 inches) further than the stock sport rims.

Motegi SX5 Glossy Black Wheels

To be on the safe side at stock height, I'd recommend a 15" rim with a +40 offset or higher on a 195/55 tire and a +42 or higher offset for 16" with a 205/45 tire.

Also, check out the Fit Shoes section of the forum to see if anyone is running a wheel and tire setup that you are interested in.

Cat, don't you do shows and such?

Motegi rims are not exactly "show" wheels, imo.

Those wheels are also available on +42mm offset on 17's. I wonder if she's safe if she go with +42mm?

Good info Hootie....thanks!
I had no plans to get rid of my OEM wheels....but after a trip trough Wayne county WV to my sons new home and a pot whole about 12 in deep I am now in the market! I had planned on going to the dealership and picking up a new wheel but at almost $500 and a week wait I will start looking at aftermarket.....or used OEM wheel. My black Fit would look good with a black wheel with a red rim stripe! Just wish it had been on my schd!

I had not ordered anything and I got lucky! Just found out some guys are opening a tuner shop in the area. Red Sun Auto Sports! Sounds like a good place to start. They are having the grand opening on Thursday. I will have something ordered by the end of the week. I am taking off from work Thursday so if this doesn't pan out I can do some more searching. The store is suppose to have after market parts, rims and tires so I am hoping I can actually look at something before I buy it. I've been waiting for new rims for over a year and I still worry about buying something that is not going to be as good as the stockers. Dave Van sorry to hear about your run in with the pot hole - it has been a bad winter here in WV. Hope you get something you like too!

Thanks for all the input! You are all great!
