The Fit approaches 50K. Will be driving from Fairbanks down the Oregon Coast to the Redwoods and back the last two weeks of April. Will report when I get back.

 

I don't really know what it means in terms of distance,
but last summer i went on a roadtrip with my GF and the Fit...
and it really went great! I drove for 1600km (1000miles) and on 90 liters of gas!!! 5.6l/km!!! or above 40 mpg!
IMO the fit really is perfect for long trips...

In Jan/Feb of '08, I drove my Fit from Philadelphia,PA to San Francisco, CA and back. About 6,000miles total. Each way took about 3 days. I only stayed in CA for about 2 weeks so all this driving was done in less than a month. My Fit only had less than 30k miles on it at the time.

It did perfectly fine on the trip. I averaged 38mpg on the whole trip with 45mpg being the best of the whole trip. My car was loaded down so much that the rear wheels had no gap between them and the rear fender area. Going through the Rocky mountain area was a bit rough due to the thin air and the tiny engine not getting along but I made it with no real issues. I even drove through a blizzard on the way and I was passing everyone on the highway in my tiny FWD car

Right before leaving San Francisco, I got my oil changed so it was fresh for the ride home.

 

Wow, that sounds good. This is going to be about a 5500 mile trip, relatively loaded with my wife riding shotgun. I'm going to put Mobil1 Delvac 5W-40 in the engine and forget about oil until I get back home...
