JDP Carbon Lip Installed!

I received my JDP Rear Carbon Lip yesterday (Saturday May 2nd) and went ahead and installed it this afternoon. Everything is pretty straight forward. I had to drill the lip and the bumper myself but it was really easy. I talked to John at JDP and he said that he will have instructions included in the future.

The fitment is perfect and pretty much dropped into place. Here are the pics!

I hope you guys like it. I know I do! Sorry for the dirty car. I only washed the bumper for the install. I'll get some sexy car pics uploaded soon.

I have the Spoon N1 and it clears pretty easily. Even though the pics make it look like the lip adds a couple of inches to the overall length of the rear bumper making it closer to the ground the actual interior section where the bumper and lip bolt together is almost the same. It probably only adds a half inch or so above the exhaust. Plus the stock exhaust cut out in the OEM bumper is mirrored in the carbon lip.

How long was the process? Doesn't look neccessary to remove the bumper although John told me to remove it and sit it on the lip I was thinking about installing it on my lunch break lol

Taking off the stock bumper is a must for the install. Overall it took me about an hour of real, actual work. The carbon makes the rear bumper much more rigid and less flexable. In fact, I even had to cut the bumper around the two brackets under the car where the bumper clips to the frame because it was causing the gap between the fenders and bumpers to be much more noticeable. Maybe it was my error but I saw no other work around to get the bumper to mount back up correctly.

I still don't see why the bumper needs to be removed looks like double sided tape along with mounting few mounting screws. Kinda avoiding removeable only because I had a lot of modification done the the 1/4s and the screws holding to car is a pain to get to not to mention very small and don't know if it's gonna go back right with out breaking something

I guess you'll just have to give it a try! Ya gotta do what works for you! I just found it really easy to have the bumper off, turned upside down, with the lip resting on top. If you can hold the lip in the proper position while drilling holes in it, making sure everything lines up, then that is great. I would definately be using some small C-Clamps or something.

Now that I look at this I wonder if it would look better with the sport lip taken off and the JDP lip on the base rear bumper. I think it would have a more diffuser look to it. Looks like super high quality though.

Does the jdp already have holes or marks where to drill?

Ditto. For some strange reason it isn't as appealing as I had originally thought sadly. However I will wait for more photographs before I make my final judgment.

Yeah, I love the up-swept part in the middle but I not sure how I feel about the sides that add more to the sport rear lip.

*Drools*

I love the way the center portion of that lip looks; but like Illmatic07, I'm not too big on the way the thinner carbon fiber covers a good bit of the lip. Maybe if it barely covered about 1/4 inch of the lip it would be perfect.

Nice looking piece! It exudes quality. Say what you will about the looks (I like it well enough as far as lips go, but lips really aren't my thing), it certainly appears to be well made.
