Water Temp Indicator

Just got a nice 2003 JDM GD3 FiT. Totally loving the car and the gas mileage, unbelieveable to get an average of 15.8 KM/L (37 MPG!) and not being a hybrid vehicle!

To my post, I got a question as my owners manual came in Japanese, what does the blue water temp indicator mean at start up? I know it means the engine is cold, but does this limit how I drive the CVT transmission? Any limitations on my driving once the blue water temp light is on?

Any help from Jazz owners would be great.

You are right. It means that the engine is cold and is not in operating temperature. While its on do not drive your card hard. It should go away in the few seconds while driving.

Thanks for the reassurance...will let the vehicle idle a bit prior to my start out. Its like 85F in the summer here and 75 winter, so no cold temps. Just to baby her I guess I'll be gentle!

Don't idle longer than it takes to buckle up. That's pointless, just drive normal.

Also, the "Cold" icon disappears at 125°F, but the engine is not fully warmed up until 172°.
