To mod or not to mod....

I'm really stuck on what to do next, originally I was looking into some j's racing stuff. Header/that intake they have and finally a zex kit too top it off. But then I started to number crunch $890header $750intake and $630 zex kit. That brings the total to $2270! That's really close to $2800 price quote for the hks turbo kit, with install I'll be looking near 4k. Also another thing I thought off the stock ecu on the fit's are probably running really conservative figures as far as timing so you can use the cheapo low octane, there's probably 10-15 ponies hidden there if you use 93+octane and advance the timing ,remap fuel curves accordingly, plus raise the rev limit, and throw in a cam to make it that much more worthwhile, then na to me would be a better option than turbo

Bisimoto doesn't seem that interested, only offering cam regrinds!?!? Not for anything but I was hoping that the "professionals" would take all the guess work out and offer something concrete as in....head/cam for $xxxx makes xxxwhp, great now I can compare this to kraftwerks/hks, homebuilt frankinstein turbo, and make an informed purchase.

Have you considered supercharging? Kraftwerks' supercharger kit for the Fit costs around 3 grand and is pretty much plug and play requiring no tuning at all just minor alterations (bending basically) to a couple of under hood components.

The KWSC also allows you to retain your fog lights, not tap into your oil pan, and can be upgraded (if you get the base kit) with Kraftwerks' top mount intercooler, injectors, spark plugs, and of course the high-boost kit. Also with the KWSC, you don't have to worry about boost spike (happens with turbos) since superchargers are driven by a belt and pulley, nitrous backfire, or running out of nitrous mid spray.

Staying NA and tuning is do-able but it will cost a pretty penny (as you noticed) and other than exhaust components and intake systems there are not many aftermarket parts for NA tuning on L15A...yet...

$2800 could get you a swapped crx which will be faster than the fit will ever be

Could also buy a cheap 5 liter mustang, no fun in that. Like Nikita kruschev said in enemy at the gates, I want it to grow some balls! The 1.5 has potential that is begging to be tapped. I don't see why bisimoto decided it's a good idea to go into the crz hybrid scene, last thing I would want to do on my zero mile brand new car is even think about popping the hood....now an 08 fit with some use seems like a better candidate to mod

Earlier this year I sold a 1994 Sentra SE-R in great condition with just 80,000 miles for $2700. And of course it was noticeably quicker than the Fit. If you can find another machine like that you're better off buying it versus sinking lots of dollars in your Fit that you won't get much return on the day you sell it.

I'd have to agree on the not to mod. You gotta think, you need to get to work on monday to make the money to play with the car. So if you start modding your Fit you might start breaking stuff. I'd be looking into another car for my toy. If you really want to mod the fit I would put it into stuff that will not break your car. Tune a turbo car wrong and your done..... N/A all the way. Unless its a toy

A lot depends on your future plans for the car. When the time comes to sell the car you will have lost about 75% of the potential buyers who will not consider buying a used car that has the slightest suggestion of being whipped. Also unless you find someone who wants exactly the mods you have performed you will end up selling the car for less than your neighbor could sell his straight, stock identical model for.

Cars are money pits to begin with, I do plan on hanging on to the fit for quite sometime. And like most people I'm never satisfied with stock performance

If your in the scene and you want to see some good things come from the Fit. I'd def say look into the KWSC it's a very nice kit. Also exhaust and suspension and your stock fit will move and look great. Then do little things to the outside to make it your you know.

What ever you choose. Have fun!!

Cars are money pits that's a fact and if you want to make your car yours dont let just $$$ stop you.

Well there's your problem, you started crunching the numbers, haha. If your Fit is MT I would say go for the Kraftwerks kit. No matter what car you build, NA is going to cost more $$$ to see the same power a Turbo/SC can make.

None the less the awesome sounds and comments you will get with F/I. Also you can upgrade the KWSC with the top mount and cowl scoop.

Completely false. Do you realize how few people modify cars out of everyone in the world? And I don't mean stereos, window tint, chrome hubcaps etc.

Let somebody else get whacked with the depreciation then, you're tossing a lot of dollars down the drain by doing these mods. Scan the market then and make an offer on somebody else's riced out Fit, Civic, etc. they're all over the place now. You can make bargains with these people and let them take the big loss. It's like I said, I even sold a Sentra SE-R for just $2700 in great condition. And it would take so many dollars to make your Fit just as fast as it, it's just not worth the investment.

It's all about avoiding the pain you'll experience one day when you sell your riced car and get whacked good by depreciation

First off my car is FAR from rice, ricers have wet dreams about owning the shit I have on my car. Secondly if your looking at this as a investment your looking at it all wrong. This is a hobby, I do it not to make money but because I enjoy modifing and personalising my car. Thirdly IF I ever do decide to sell my car I wouldn't just sell it as is I would part the sucker out. Would I come out ahead, probable not but I would make alot more then just selling it out right.
