Gas mileage has become fairly terrible & other weird things

oh no having bald tyre is not only dangerous its all agaisnt the law here in UK and EU, officers can stop and tow your car instantly.

where did you learn that?
The opposite. So far the worst 5w20 oil for fuel mileage I've ran is the valvoline syn power. Great oil as far as shear protection goes, but viscosity-wise it feels like it pours like 15w40. I think the highest mileage I ever got on that oil was almost 33 mpg. My only 25mpg tank ever --- actually every sub-30mpg tank except one was on the valvoline. Many cars like it, my fit absolutely hates the stuff.

Motorcraft 5w20 is very good, especially for the price; 40+ mpg on this stuff is easy as pie. Mobil 1 is slightly better, but I only know that because of the load indicator on the UG; I doubt I'd see the difference tank-to-tank. Easy to pump means better mileage. (this is why Toyota uses 0w20 in almost everything now.)
