Question Anyone uses cheap old copper spark plug?

Was looking for IZFR6K-13 plugs at Canadian Tire, don't have it.
Googled, and found out that i could just use IZFR6K-11 and re-gap to 1.3mm.

But they are still iridium tip, i'm wondering has anyone here used the basic grade/cheap old copper plug? I think Canadian Tires wants 10$/plug (or was it 10$ for 2 plugs)...

The reason why i want to replace my plugs is that i'm getting incredible shitty gas mileage right now... 400km/tank, roughly 8-9L/100km... granted is winter but still (park in the garage).

So my plan is to do a complete ECU reset (read a post here about it), change the transmission oil with Honda ATF, change oil filter, replace all the spark plug... and hopefully bring the MPG back up... Got the Fit about 2 months ago, zero maintenance work had been done except the dealer did an oil change (which they overfilled by 1 liter).

Car has 80k km on the odometer, granted the plugs should still have 20-40k km to go, but still, i want to get back the advertised MPG right now...

I use non-projected copper NGK BPR8ESs gapped to .022" in the race car! Have you considered using a 7 range plug in your fit? It is basically the same thing as going to Denso IK22s.

I also go through plugs faster than damn near anyone on this board... So take that as you will.

1.3mm is a big gap though.

I'm kind a lost, because the stock spark plug is suppose to be IZFR6K13, so i look it up online, and the last 2 numbers means the gap size, where 13 = 1.3mm, and 11 = 1.1mm. Although, looking at this page, it says the recommended gap length should be 1.0-1.1 mm...

I am no expert with spark plugs, i just know that if people go turbo and FI they usually go 1-2 range colder to help with detonation. And the last thing i read is that, wider gap would archive slightly better fuel economy and cleaner burn (although, too wide then it might not spark at high rpm).

I'm open to any suggestions/expertise on bring the MPG back to life because 9L/100km i may as well drive my Integra lol... *cry*

So this is my 2007 Fit's MPG for the last 3 tanks of gas... taken the with the 2-4% odometer error..

L/100 km km(corrected) liters
9.52 154.40 149.00 14.186L
7.92 484.80 467.83 37.055L
9.36 405.30 391.11 36.593L

Second tank of gas i drove like an old man, trying to keep the rpm needle under 2.5k, 3rd tank i said fuck it, i will just drive normally, which in most cases, the needle never went past 3k.

PS: The Fit is Automatic, i know MPG may suffer, but i hope NOT THAT MUCH... I had a 1992 automatic Integra before and it did ~9L/100, and it was with a B18A...

Try one range colder, and a 1.1mm gap. This should allow you to run more timing across the map, which would allow for more efficient combustion and leaner operation. This means less fuel is needed to achieve the same goal.

There's really nothing wrong with using copper electrode plugs; they just 'wear out' and need changing more often. And when the feds require that 50k mile warranty manufacturers don't take chances. Cost too much.
