a/c button backlight out -- suggestions?

Hi all,

Just noticed tonight that the backlight of my a/c button is out on my '07 Sport. The defrost button backlight works, as do all others, so I'm wondering if it could just be the single a/c button backlight itself (ie, not a fuse, wire, etc.). Is that possible? If so, do I just need a new button?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I was just going to start a similar thread. My rear defrost button doesn't light up, and I actually can't remember if it ever did. Is it supposed to?

Mine looks exactly the same...only it's the a/c backlight that's out, not the defrost. And yes, they are supposed to light up.

Interestingly, it looks like the two buttons are in the same unit. $20 isn't bad, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem (and fixed it).

#3 (35854-SLN-A01 BULB A, A (14V 60MA) ) is the backlight for these buttons... one for each... I would personally do both at the same time, they've been burning the same length of time, and while you have everything apart.....

kbri:

Thanks for that clarification and for the part number. Do you know how hard this is to take apart? Something I can do myself?

Thanks!

My AC button is out, has been for a few weeks. I wonder why these lights are burning out, this is the first car i've had with this problem.

So what do we have to remove to get to these light?

I have the same problem. Both AC and defrost buttons are burnt out. looks like a pretty simple fix to replace the bulbs, but like others have said, how do you get to that area?

Hmmm, it looks like this has been discussed before (and the answer isn't any too encouraging):

I wonder if anomancer ever made a DIY for it...

My car is still covered under the new car bumper to bumper warranty until 3/24/11 so I'm going to try to get this repaired under warranty.

This should be covered right?

I have not changed the A/C bulb, but I have replaced the radio and the panel around the radio on my GD1 Jazz. I have electronic AC, but the procedure to remove the panel with electronic AC or normal AC should be the same according to the manual.

Maybe the pictures I have taken can be to any help?

Thanks for those, F0NIX. It's starting to look quite complicated, after all.

Well, it is a lot of work for just changing a lightbulb...

But with the right tools and preparations (reading the manual and getting the right tools for the work) it is not very difficult.

Well said advice. Visited your flickr. Fit looks good, but I enjoyed the hobby show. Didn't see a RC Fit though... maybe next time?_

In case anyone is still curious about this, I found a very useful youtube video showing how to take that whole center radio / a/c unit out in just about 5 simple steps.

Now I'm finally prepared to replace that burned out bulb!

By the way, here is the page for the service manual instructions re: this repair:

Since my radio illumination is defective: Can anyone confirm that these bulbs are needed for both heater control as well as the cd/audio unit? Thank you very much in advance!

Is this the correct part number for the radio/cd unit replacement bulbs? 35854-SLN-A01 BULB A

Can you guys please help me out? It would be great if you could confirm that the bulbs mentioned above are also used for the radio/cd unit. Thank you very much in advance!
