Anyone has any idea how to install this?

I just bought an armrest for my 07 Fit Sport.

It looks like this

Honda Jazz Fit Black Armrest Console Box Center New - eBay (item 260708045187 end time Apr-12-11 23:41:06 PDT)

Has anyone installed this kind of armrest before? I know they included 4 screws and all I need to do is to screw it in the cup holder.

BUT, when I do that, I notice a 3mm (maybe more) gap on the front part of the plastic.

What did I do wrong here?

Thanks in Advance!

PS: I am new to the forum =) I just got my fit almost 2 months ago.

07 Fit Sport, 35k miles, A/T, Blaze Orange (Kinda my introduction sentence).

Welcome to the freakworld. Practice a forum search - many have installed them. Try "armrest"

Hi Krimson,

I did try to do a search, but I could not find anyone with the exact same armrest that I bought.

Any other recommendations?

Thank you

that looks similar to the armrest I bought from Zetaproducts-- do a search here on Zeta armrest. No instructions with it? I never bothered with screwing mine it. It has stayed stable w/o screws.

Hello,

It does look similar, but it did not come with instructions.

Thanks

Yes, mine can be flip up. Which was the main reason why I spent a little more money on the thing.

I should have gotten the regular one. Cheaper and easier to install.

I looked at your link, mine is not that one.

You can take a look at mine in my original post.

Thanks

Welcome to FF's Ice Bomb,
Is it 2 piece? if so the part that fits into the cup holder is screwed down and the 2nd part screws to the 1st. Is this the one that top extends out? if so it's really nice for long rides.

Hey,

Yea there are 2 parts. I did screw the base part to my cup holder, but the 'gap' really bothers me.

I was wondering if there is any sort of tape or glue for it.

There may be gaps, since this is not a OEM part dont expect perfect fitment.

Tape off both sides of the crack neatly w/masking tape and fill the crack w/ black laytex caulk cut down a plastic bondo spreader to push the calk into the crack and give a smooth look to the repair. before caulk dries remove tape and the crack is filled! I used this when I was in the sign industry to remove the gaps in the pannel, work well!

This is one of the cheap ass armrests. Mine only cost $50.

They need a bit of strengthening. I added three drywall screws to keep the two parts together. To mount it I just drilled two small holes on either side towards the front and screwed it on. I also put one screw in the back.

Gap? It not really noticeable.

I have had it in for a few months now and it has not broken and looks OK. I drive in the 10 and 2 position so seldom have an arm on it. Passenger enjoys it though.

Yea, I paid $70 for mine. It looks great and the quality is ok.

I am in the process of strengthening the base now. I added "filler" to the cup holder and make sure that it fits tightly, even without screws.

Then, after the 4 screws, it should be strong enough.

Thanks for tips!

Hey guys,
Sorry for not replying sooner. I did finally install my armrest. It looks great and tighter.

I still have not got a chance to put on the black caulk to cover the gap.

I'll post pic when its done

Ok here are the pics.

I tried to fold down the rear seats, and it does not interfere.

Can you provide a link and/or name of this armrest? It looks a lot better than the one I bought and would like to order it. Sorry if I missed it if you already did.

Sorry guys. I'm an idiot. Just saw the link at the top. Looks great either way though. I like buying all oem parts, but it seems major to put the oem armrest in. Not to mention, expensive.
